Prices are crazy now days ... BUT it also kills resale value. Leaving the consumerto break even because the original price was so high to begin with.

Prices are crazy nowadays. I bought Mark 1, 2 and 3 when they first came out for like 500 bucks on eBay in 2008.

Well that may have read wrong. Just like anything with collecting it’s nice to know there’s a certain “increase in value” when you buy things. The way I see it since things at retail price are so expensive if you ever wanted to resale with what fees cost through eBay and PayPal your lucky to break even on your original cost. I don’t see people spending crazy money on these like some of the eBay prices you see now days. At this point I can honestly say I don’t buy for profit but I buy because I enjoy a particular license or character, due to the fact I know damn well I be lucky to get retail price maybe less. I think like collectors have stated in a few comments back eventually the prices are going to take people out of the game.

Fully agree. Considering the days, weeks, months, or years of enjoyment that a figure should have provided over that time, to be able to sell it for the same money you bought it at should be considered a win. If you sell for less than you paid, then the difference is the cost of that previous enjoyment...

I agree it's nice to know that your collection has gone up in value (I even keep a running spreadsheet to keep track), and it adds to the enjoyment of the collection. But considering these are not made from some kind of indestructible material, even if left in the box, they don't last forever. Every figure should be purchased assuming that it will be worth NOTHING when you're finished with it.
It's a shame that prices have gone up the way they have, and ya, it's becoming cost prohibitive for a lot of people, but that could be said for a lot of things. The unfortunate reality of life, is that if someone can't afford something, they should find something else to enjoy. At least the smaller, less expensive figures have really seen a huge improvement in quality over the last few years, so there is an option there.
I just feel lucky that my own collection is mostly based on nostalgia, and I have almost all the characters I'd want anyway, so I'm hoping I'll be done purchasing new figs pretty soon. I can still just enjoy reading about, or looking at the new stuff...

Yea not sure how that's gonna play out. They should have just done a standard and deluxe version at the time of the initial reveals instead of doing customers dirty like that.

Relax guys. Nothing has been confirmed yet. Who knows if this will be an accessory set or if they will add stuff to the
figure. I would like to think that HT would not release another MK50 with all of the accessories so far after the other one
went up for preorder, but stranger things have happened.

They released and re-released (with less accessories) that baby groot earlier this year, so anything is possible
