Thought murder Batfleck used a spear because guns are too quick. You can't savor all the little emotions.

Or the director chose it because it looked kewl. Which I agree.
That's pretty much why I thought it happened. Also probably a phallic thing, about using a shaft to violate another man. Dildo ships from Man of Steel and whatnot.

That's Snyder for you, though. Always working on multiple levels.

Should have jump one up'd Marvel and had Batman make a right handed gauntlet from Inertron encrusted with Krypotnite. Then either use it for punching or fisting.

And yes, I had to look Inertron up.

They already one up'd Marvel by releasing their movie about two heroes fighting each other first and we see how well that worked out for them.

Marvel did the same thing about a month later only with even more characters and look how that turned out.

I actually forgot about that. I suppose it gives both a personal and symbolic meaning. I don't have a problem with it. But I'll admit I'm bias as a huge Snyder fan.

did you read what he planned for JL2? Supes on the side of Darkseid and the Knightmare vision WAS from a possible future where Supes helped Darkseid conquer the earth..no wonder WB canned JL2 right off after BvS! Too bad I say...

Sounds valley and I think it would have been an amazing idea if WB kept on it. A lot of people really resonate to these characters, I mean WB has the means to also tell a story and if it doesn't work, reboot with Infinite Crisis, Flashpoint, BD/DN, and just keep it up. They could tell so many stories and still all can be cohesive and connected. I do like the Marvel Universe route, but I feel IW will be the climax and dont forsee anything major from then on with the MCU. Only thing they have going now is the possibility of X-Men. DC has so many excellent stories and can always soft reboot and do other things. A Darkseid Injustice story would have been cool, and could start building the idea of multiverses. I get building one universe is hard and should be the main priority, but a multiverse literally ****s on a single universe.

The purpose of the soldier isn't that he pierced Jesus. During his walk to Golgotha he began to challenge his idea of Jesus. He was witness to Mary, mother of Jesus, being caring and loving and baring no hate to those torturing Jesus.

During the moment of crucifixion he doubted the cause of the Roman's and began to take pity on Jesus. After death he chose to proclaim his death and assisted all of those that have been a part of his life. The plight is actually noticeable with Batman. Perhaps it is too on the nose for most, but I find it to be a fantastic connection as well since we believed Superman to be a God.

I did get all that, (though I did like the way you explained it!) and I love the imagery he puts in his films, but I mean it was still a stylistic choice.

Putting that as the answer doesn’t answer the question really. Why couldn’t it be a kryptonite bullet, or a dagger, or etc etc (and these would go with the hunting theme he talked about too, even though I’m sure he wasn’t talking about his forefathers in cave dwelling times using spears for the hunt lol)

Stylistic decision is the only real answer

It doesn’t bug me in anyway, I actually liked Snyder’s take on these characters (coz they’ll be rebooted soon enough anyhow) but it’s a cop out answer

:lol

Civil War was awful, I only liked the costumes and Black Panther on that film. :lol

When asked if the evil Superman in the Knightmare vision had something to do with the Mother Boxes or an alternate timeline, Snyder clarified:

Or if someone lost someone close to them they might become Susceptible to a certain Equation and blame a certain Bat for events that a too soon Bruce would know nothing about.

So if he had gone along with his original JL plan he would have been controlled by the anti-life equation? Would make more sense with the whole ‘Lois is the key’ bit which was pretty much scrapped in what we got. (The current ‘bring in the big guns” was too low key for such a dramatic forewarning of doom)

Really wish we had got to see his two parter

Also it’s nice to see some BvS love in this thread, it got piled on pretty bad against CW when it came out.
