Bah ...I'm not even going to try and guess what the price will be for this piece. That's a waste of time!

All I know is that SSC better be in touch with reality when they price this thing. It better not be another case of over-pricing like Green Goblin, Gamora and Darkseid.

I believe they can make more money if they price it just right and a lot more collectors buy this piece.

From Martin Canale's FB feed... Honestly there are way more of this digital piece, but this is the money shot, and my photobucket app is crapping out...lol

SSC pricing hasn't been in touch with reality in about 3 years....... The pricing has gone up ALOT in the past 3 years. This piece will have a high edition size because lots will pre-order at first and will have a high price because that is what history has shown. It is 1/5 scale, which a lot of collectors don't collect so I see this set being easily attainable in the future as well.

I was looking at the 3D sculpt the other day and I gotta say it really looks amazing, this whole dio is a winner.
One thing that came to my mind is that this Wolverine has different facial features than the Wolverine PF.

Now, I know that wat I'm saying will stir things up, but it seems to me that this portrait has a strong resemblance to the XM one. Very very similar facial structure, chin/jaw features, expression of the mouth and nose-eyes. It has more finesse (finesse? Does this word even exist? Not sure) put into it, there's more care in the teeth area and the cowl has a leather texturing to it, but I do see a lot of similarities.
Which is interesting considering the amount of heat that XM got for the Wolverine portraits, with people pointing out that those facial features didn't belong to Logan.

not to fan the burning subject of price, but the prices I've noticed some have used for comparisons are for 1/4 scale pieces, this is only 1/5-1/6 in size. If this is over $650 I'd surprised

I think XM got most the heat for its unmasked sculpts. I think most liked the Masked on but did have issues with the gums and some did not have the best paint apps for the teeth. Personally I never liked the nose on the XM sculpt. Always thought it curved down too far into the mouth and I always wished that he had canines... Otherwise the XM masked sculpt is pretty great... Looks like the SSC improved on the things I had issues with.

There is a lot about XMs pieces that is very good, but the differences are subtle, but when it comes to head sculpts it is always about the subtle differences. So here is a slightly different side by side straight on view.

If you look closely there are three main differences. The brow is more vicious in the SSC piece giving the eyes a more farrel look, and quite frankly it is just more detailed. Then there is the nose and the wings of the mask with the nose being less pronounced on Martins sculpt, and the wings being further out which all give it more of a Jim Lee/John Byrne/Paul Smith look, which is what I think most guys are looking for when it comes to a Wolverine. As I said the XM head is fine, but it just doesn't hit the mark for many.

You are 100% right Spidey. The biggest difference is where the eyebrow area meets the nose. Byrne always drew his Wolvie with the black part of his mask cutting downward to the nose. XM's Wolvie has a softer more rounded appearance where the black portion of the mask meets at his eyebrows/nose. This is more consistent with the way Cockrum drew him. For me personally, there is no Wolverine like the John Byrne Wolverine. IMO, NO ONE drew him better. Lee is the only other artist who comes close in my book. That's why I didn't like any of the portraits offered with the XM Wolvie including the masked portrait.

Oh yes I agree on all points, the Canale head is more refined (so I guess that "finesse" doesn't apply as a word in this context hmm). Was curious to see if I was the only one who noticed similarities in the facial features, didn't look closely at the difference in the mask shape. The main difference that jumped to my eye is in the teeth btw

It is absolutely amazing. Gotta be honest though, SS nailed the face sculpt way better than the XM, IMO. Just my personal preference but this to me is THE yellow Wolverine I want. Size, textures, face sculpt, pose...a masterpiece! Something about it, but I just do not like the XM wolvie at all.

This dio is a show stopper, I will not be passing this up. This is most Ive been pumped for a SS piece in a loooooooog time!

Looking forward to this going up for preorder. I have the XM wolverine and love it, but this is in a different class.
