The boots are sort of open to opinion and taste. There were several pairs, at least TWO styles and were worn in different ways.
Some were Vietnam era cap toe boots. worn open with the tounge hanging out. I have an US magazine from '93 with several great publicity shots where the boots look just like the NECA figure. Others were the current military issue of the late 80's/90's and were worn open AND folded over. I've owned about 8 pairs of those and always wore them that way. The longer you were them the more they fall and fold over.
The boots I use are full, laced up combat boots. I cut them open and fold them. I suppose I could leave then shaft standing up, just make sure you specify in the Paypal notes when you make your payments.

They look to me like Doc Martens. I'm not sure how many eyelets they have but the most popular is 8, which is almost the same amount as the Newline Miniatures British DMS Boots (this one has 7). Which are in fact identical to Doc Martens.

Maybe the German High Top Jump Boots would work if they're actually longer like the Neca figure's boots?

No, he definately didn't wear Doc Martens. They're just combat boots folded over. Good shots of the boots are hard to find, but they were always just regulation black combat boots; worn unlaced snd eitherfolded or not, depending on what scene you're looking at. Here's a couple shots of the McFarlane 12" boot. Notice there are no laces. They were worn like this, or in alot of scenes they had drooped due to being wet and fallen over completely, including the tongue.

Badass! And shawn is correct on the boots... They were combat boots 100%. I used to wear the same exact type back in the 90's.

I'm so pumped for this figure, I have half the money I need already and am well on my way to the rest! :rock

Just three more JOHNS!

I figured you guys would like to see these. The Crow; sans coat, a face close up and a clear shot of how I've been doing the boots. This one will be going to The Craw.

WOW! that looks soooo cool. can't wait to eventually order one. just one thing though - he didn't have chord running down his forearms - that was just electrical tape. i can't get over how perfect those pants and boots are (apart from the one button). incredible.

I stand corrected then. But British DMS Boots are identical to Doc Martens except for the yellow stitching. So they are Combat Boots, just not American combat boots. ;)

So are the boots on the figure like the resin ones pictured there? Because the boots on the figures look like they're made of real leather.

Thanks for the heads up, Creecher! Much appreciated. The Corw boots are not leather, only the tongue. Since it hangs right out in front and is so prominent I wanted it to have the right look and texture.

I'll try to be here as much as possible, but I'll probably drop out of the loop for a few days. I find it really hard to balance the addiction of forum surfing and building all the stuff you guys are paying me to build:duh The only solution I ever have is to avoid the web and focus on work. But Aubury still checks my email, so if you have a question or need to reach me send an email: [email protected] See you in a few days!!

I never understood the popularity of this movie. i fell asleep 30 mins into it...:sleep:sleep

The Film V for Vendetta basically a remake or Orwells 1984 with a mixture of historical and current contexts thrown into the mix. Us Brits celebrate Guy Fawkes Night and some vaguely understand about Guy Fawkes and his attempt to blow up parliament. But he has been for many years by me anyway perceived as the "Baddie" in the story, thats the way my parents presented it to me.

This film asks you to think about current issues such as "terrorism" and how thats now become a tool to take away civil liberties by certain groups from certain groups.

Its not an advocation of terrorism it just suggests that blindly believing in whats told too you by your government or anyone for that matter isnt neccasarily the wisest course. Parrellels Nazi Germany ? Germans arent as a whole all evil and sh1.t or they werent in 1939

There were reasons why they tried to take over the world

Blind Allegience to a Government Protectorate whose a Bully, liar and Murderer, some might say there are certain Western governments who personify these traits !

Case in point are there any detention camps that you know of run by your government that detain "terrorists" were torture, sexual degradation, forced drugging and religious persecution are common place ?

One were maybe the inmates are forced to have there picture taken with the prison guards in demeaning ways ?

One mans Guantanamo is anothers Auschwitz

Like the camps in V for Vendetta I think

this film can make you think, maybe thats why you didnt like it that much ! (not a dig maybe you just expected something more action packed and lighter?)

or maybe you just didnt read things into it ?

Take another look Nash with a different view

Im not USA bashing here as the UK often parrellels you guys.

Im not even bashing Anti Terrorism measures as such, all Im saying this film suggests that just blindly believing media and government can lead you to a situation that you never thought you would be in.

All im saying is armed with a bit more info maybe it will be a better watch ?

Shawn i wonder how you styled the hair on this pic, what did you use? Any way to give the hair a durable wet-look like he often had in the film?

i LOVE this crow! but brandon had curly qs all over. that would MAKE this figure look more like brandon. i have never styled hair on a figure so im not sure if anyone can make it curly or if it is the hair you initially put on only.

i have to agree with mooncat - i think v for vendetta is almost as profound (in terms of message, importance, cultural and political significance) as the upcoming "Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay".

Craw, you have to post pics up as soon as Shawn ships yours! Can't wait to see it.

Yeah, I wish I could do curly hair on these. I actually use black paint as "styling gel"; holds it firm in place, still reasonably flexible. I'm sure I could simply use gloss black paint for a wet look. I never even thought of that. Thanks, man!!:D

I tried to make a 1:6 curling iron once, didn't work:lol

Shawn, I may be interested in this custom Crow figure from you. If I can afford it. But I know for sure I want to get your custom Newt head from ALIENS with rooted hair, and her outfit kit from your other thread on this board. How much would the Crow cost? Let me know. Thanks!
