I don't think with Sideshow making almost 30 figures in their GI Joe line it's considered a "tanked" line

Please, more than half are rehashes

Ssc completely ****ed the joe line, they couldn't give what are some great figures away, why? Be caused they took the collector for granted and started to price outside of what people are willing to pay, just like this line

Who the **** can and or wants to drop 300$ on a god damn toy?

:rolleyes2 and I am sure you bought some.

Regardless of Sideshow calling it quits on the Joe line, the figures still sold and they made some really great figures with this line...Yes,it's a shame they didn't make more, but the line was a success regardless of what some think

I have all of them but the second snake eyes.....

The line was great and thought the figures were well done, but it wasn't a success. All the cobra figures all lingered around, still think some are available.
Ssc over priced them and made a poor judgement, as always, to what the collectors wanted, hence once more they killed another 1:6 line.

Come on, what a stupid question. Everyone on this forum, apparently. Makes me wonder why you post here if you think spending money on these figures is ridiculous.

Sorry I meant to add consistently, with the amount of product they put out between ssc and ht they are killing an average collector at the price point.

Was just at my local shop on the weekend and as always spoke to the owner for a bit, he echoed the same sentiment from his customers, sales are down in his segment, 1:6 from either ssc of ht, simply as there is to much at a high cost now

Oh, my apologies. I took that as an insulting post.

Yeah, I do agree with you there. $250+ on every single figure is hard in the wallet. Take the SSC Punisher for example... It's not worth $240 not including shipping.

I have to pick and choose what I really want these days, just 3 figures adds up to almost a thousand bucks.

It was a success enough that they cranked out almost 30 figures (Made 7 of the main popular cobra's and 9 popular Joes) When has Sideshow made that many figures for one line they produce besides Starwars????

Cmon dude, your comparing Joe to SW? Different beast altogether

If the line was a success it would still be going, but it isn't

I wasn't comparing GI Joe to Stawars.You didn't read

I basically said Sideshow GI Joe was their second biggest line they ever done since Starwars...It was a Success! regardless of that they could of made more

that would be a pretty easy custom figure to make. Heres the gun:

lol just realized Predator came out in 87 and War journal came out in 89, they were probably inspired by this same gun:lol

Great spot with the gun! Never noticed that. But yeah my problem with the Sideshow "Punisher" is the whole costume is nothing like the comics i know and love.

I hate to say it but I'm not paying that price, and I've been excited for this. Assuming it gets the 10 buck shipping most HTs get, this will be $250. More expensive than all regular HT figs... That's just ridiculous. I guess I'll just wait for it to get a discount during Spook at some point.

As for the price, Sideshow are really missing an opportunity with their own figures.

Look at it this way. A $250 Hot Toys figure at Sideshow will retail in Hong Kong for about $150, give or take. HT's are cheaper in HK and Sideshow mark them up because they buy them from HT (at wholesale considerablly less than the HK retail price of course and mark them up to cover their costs, freight, etc and a hefty profit).

Since SS figures have no middle man (HT) they should be considerably cheaper than a comparable HT figure. Maybe even the same price that a HT figure will sell in HK for. They would sell a lot more of their own figures if they sold them at true costs and make just as much as they do selling HT's.

Don't get me wrong, i love Sideshow. Great company with great staff and some great products. I just don't like the design decisions they made with the DC and Marvel lines. They make comic accurate statues but not sixth scale and i don't know why.

SS isn't going anywhere, for every person priced out of the market there is a wealthy person who will step in and take their place.

$240.00 is $2.40 for many people, just because you can't afford it does it mean SS is screwing themselves with higher prices.

It's not about what people can afford, it's about what people are willing to spend. Very different. Also if that is true then why is there more sixth scale dead stock than ever?

I can afford 240.
But not kicking it out for this... Not at all. Dam toys does better for 160.
If I don't win the give away. Parts it is.

Sideshow is not worthy of Hot Toys prices. This is even more expensive than Hot Toys and I don't see where the value is. Easy pass.

Agreed with both. I can order this like I do everything else, but I'm not paying above HT prices. It's the same with the Threezero Commander Shepard... Terrible headsculpt and cheap looking paintjob, and they charged $220 for it.

These companies need to get their prices under control, or all their stock will be clogging up the warehouse for a year while everyone waits for a discount. That's what I'm doing with this, and unfortunately what I'll probably do with their Wolverine. That won't be any cheaper.

Agree with that...DamToy makes a higher quality 1/6 scale and they do much better for the price. The Gangster line is a testament to that
