Re: Hot Toys QS006 - Avengers: AOU 1/4th scale Mark XLV Collectible Figure

I think your post got buried since I think this is an excellent observation with no direct replies yet. I wonder which is correct.

I'm getting the 1/4 XLIII so I'm not sure about this one. I also preordered the 1/4 HT Boba Fett, before you know it I will have too many 1/4 figs LOL

The movie version is correct :lol

HT's hand guards seem to be modelled after the art rendering...

I think the 43 and 45 are special in their own ways.

The 43 is a perfected 42 that retains all of its design characteristics, including the prehensile function that makes the suit-up scenes vastly entertaining to watch. It reverts back to the classic color scheme of predominant red with gold, which I appreciated. Its design looks really mechanical, which is appropriate considering it flies around in separate pieces and assembles itself around Tony. We got to see it in action the most during Age of Ultron, and it is presumably the only armor that is compatible with Hulkbuster. Also, we finally got to see the shoulder-mounted anti-personnel weapons again, which was probably my favorite Mark 43 scene in the movie.

The 45 is an entirely different design. The hexagon around the arc reactor was a subtle but cool aesthetic element. The armor's design is sleek and incredibly organic-looking, closely resembling the human musculature and giving off an "android" appearance. Due to its organic look, Tony and the armor seemed even more intertwined...he literally looked like a man made of metal. I personally thought the armor fit nicely into the movie's theme of evolution and loosely paralleled Ultron's quest to make better and better bodies. It got a large amount of screen time at the end of the movie, but still not enough in my opinion. We were unjustly denied the suit-up scene, which I'm sure would have been really cool to see...maybe it has the prehensile function as well, but we'll probably never know. I also appreciated the return of the lasers, which Tony used multiple times throughout the final fight scene.

Both armors are special. In fact, they're my two favorites of them all. I have a hard time deciding which one I like more. To each his own, but I think the Mark 45 (and the Mark 43) both look really freaking cool.

True Eric...but weak as **** when it comes to Iron Man so its inevitable i'm gonna order it :( what am i saying! :slap i already have! DOH!!! :lol

:lol

It will hang around awhile at that price so I'll wait it out. Would like to see some final product pics before committing and by that time I should have rebuilt some RP's to lessen the injuries from the price tag. ;)

1/4 are nice, but man are they expensive to buy when you're international.
Biggest statues I have are the 1/5 Buffy maquettes, which were only $260 back in 2012 and the dollar was on par then, so they were great prices. If released today I'm sure I'd be paying $150 more for each of them.

The 43 is $830 shipped here and this one will be even more, they're just so expensive to purchase here, but great looking pieces nonetheless.

It's funny. Back before the movie came out, and we knew a sixth scale 43 was coming out, and assumed a sixth scale 45 would come out, going on a split second trailer shot and a lego set listing, so many people were pro 45 and weren't even going to order the 43... Now it's like the other way around...

I was planning to get the 43 1/4 but after this Announcement I will get this instead. I like the 45 a lot more than the 43 Maybe some of the people talking down this armor already have the 43 on order.

Thinking of doing the same. I really love this suit over 43 but it doesnt come with head sculpt. Can't make up my mind

I wish hot toys would go back to giving the armours that pristine clean look and not this new battle damaged look. It works for some armours and I think the 45 could have used the fresh out of the factory look we seen when it first appeared on screen.

I prefer the design of the 43. 45 looks a bit too beefy to me. It also gives off the feel of an anime style iron man, not classic looking.

I read before the reasoning was business related. People were going over their pristine armours with microscopes and returning figures with any small dings and scratches. If it's meant to be lightly scuffed up then any imperfections can be written off.

I like it with posed figures, but I don't like too much of it. For instance, the battle damaged terminators I prefer the lessor of the two options. I really like it on my Mk43, but at the same time I like it that the MkIII is coming pristine because I'm posing that HOA style...

Even in the movie when the Mark 3 was brand new it still had dirt and dings on it. It makes it more visually interesting.
