I love their music because it's weird and crazy as ****. Plus, how could you not love that accent. :lol

They're the only reason I wanted to see this movie.

They're supposed to be a parody of today's music, the whole thing is an act.

I get that but, that being said, if I had to make a choice of ways to make a living of either dealing hardcore drugs on the streets, or make crap like this? I guess I'm a drug dealing type of guy! This music kills more people from shear badness! Haha

I guess you don't like beat based/electronic music, I can't see anyone who likes those genres disliking Die Antwoord, their music isn't bad by any means production-wise, they even have some good lyrics, I guess the objective or their act is to fool people into thinking they're actually part of the medium they mock and judge them as such.

I'm not really going to argue anybody on their opinion. Everybody is entitled to one. I just can't see the appeal. And as far as "liking" that type of music genre, well they clearly used an aphex twin beat, and I like AT. Hell, it's clear that they do too because dudes got an AT tattoo right on his arm.

Which is dumb, because you're either being a part of the crappy medium or just trying too hard too look special.

Anyway, *pretencious* is the right word. Gaga Syndrome.

Then I guess they got you too.

Yup, they did.

You like AT but you can't see the appeal here? Sounds contradictory to me, but like you said, to each their own.

I'm not gonna lie, I clicked on this because ass. :monkey3

At Rotten Tomatoes, this movie's clocking in at 30-percent Fresh with critics and 67-percent Fresh with audiences. Why the huge disparity?

well, mainly because critics and general audiences have very different ways of appreciating a movie. yeah that's like stating the obvious i know, seeing the popularity of crap like michael bay's transformers. but sometimes, critics go in looking for flaws while audiences go in just looking for a good time.

as an example, at the screening i was at (a packed hall) the crowd seemed to love the movie. they laughed at chappie's innocent ways, and at some of the silly gangsta posturing he was trying to emulate. granted, die antwoord can't act for nuts, but occasionally they worked on some bizarre level.

What'd you think of the movie? I find the concept intriguing, but CHAPPiE sounds a lot like RoboJarJar. :slap

I personally dont have a problem with the music itself but I do really hate their voices. (Specially the guy) And I kind of hate their looks. maybe it is all an act but they seem douchey

(And on interviews with some of the actors, they were saying that these two made filming the movie a complete nightmare with their diva attitudes)

That's exactly the point :lol

It seems to me everything they do is just to further their brand recognition, which why I wonder why the hell would a movie maker want them anywhere near their movies? I wouldn't be surprised if those two made a documentary or a diary of the making of the movie or something.

Seems to me Blomkamp didn't put much thought into this movie in general...

i just dont understand why make the other actors' lives a daily nightmare
for the press?
