Man, I wish I knew how to make an avatar, I'd do aTonner one just to jump in on the fun.

TONNER RULZ!

Go in to your control panel "User CP" on the little menu thingy up top. And one of the options is to "edit Avatar" and then you can upload an image.

Trust me, Dave runs a good ship here. And even HE has to deal with the Vikings onboard. We are all just one big disfunctional family really... Don't worry Darklord, I can honestly say that most of the guys here who would say things about your collection would stick up for you in a heartbeat if you were a member here who had proven himself worthy of being called a Freak.

So just let this thread pass on into obscurity and just enjoy the freakshow. We are good people here, and things get better. The thread you pulled out is an exception, not the norm. We still can get into some pretty heated debates, as IrishJedi listed earlier... But we don't go around picking on other members .... usually. :lol

Anyway, welcome... hopefully you will find your spot around here and let this pass into memory. :duff

Actually we do pick on other members but its more of a sibling rivalry kind of thing. As you may notice we can be a little defensive, but we're defensive as a family. I mean this board talked collector freak OUT of leaving.

We are used to ridicule and criticism and we probably assumed every other adult collector was too. For heavens sake our fearless leader likes Tonner, how much more open minded can you get?

Anyway, sorry you were offended and I'd like to say it won't happen again, but I'd be lying. Adults collecting toys attracts that sort of attitude even amongst ourselves. Give it a chance, wade in and keep in mind that the freaks label isn't an accident.

Welcome aboard.

First, I'd like to welcome Darklord1967 to the board - and I have to say I'm a little ashamed at the reaction his thoughtful post got here.

I don't think anyone who posts on a toy board has any right to disparage anyone else's collection and I'd like to apologize for the thread in question, although I'm sure I've been guilty of something like that as well.

Thanks a million DD for the warm welcome and the kind words. Greatly appreciated.

But I'm honestly beginning to think that some of the earlier "get over it" sentiments aimed at me may have been right on target.

I think I'm beginning to "get" the loose "trash talkin'" vibe that exists here, thanks to the polite explanations by some of the very posters to this thread, and some candid and helpful PMs I've received.

I'll just consider my stormy introduction here today as a sort of "trial by fire", and its all good...:D

By the way, in case anyone's interested, my name's Roberto.

That's cool. Have you not acquired or ordered the already-legendary Takara Batman 1/6 figure?

I've seen that figure and it's an absolutely gorgeous piece of work.

But honestly, I wasn't much of a fan of Michael Keaton's turn as The Batman or the series of live-action films that Warner's has released thus far.

Actually, I consider myself more of a Batman "traditionalist". I prefer his late 1980's comic book "look" (The Killing Joke, Norm Breyfogle's "Detective" run, Graham Nolan, et al), and my preference for his wheels is and always shall be the 1960's TV show "Futura" Batmobile. That car had a 60's Hot Rod "muscle car" look that I always loved. The red pinstripes and the five-spoke Radir rims just slay me!:D

Also, I have a preference for Batman tales that include Robin the BOY Wonder (not the older "Teen" Wonder) by his side. I'm talking about the original (Dick Grayson).

However, I think dark, solo Batman stories are really cool too.

Anyhow, I've posted some photos of my own Custom MEGO Bat-Toys project in this thread

humility and the ability to laugh at yourself is definitely essential to survival on the freaks board. you know, i posted a porn star poll once....

Salutations DarklordNewbie with a Tie Fighter Fetish. I have no idea how you were able to self-discover a year old thread that happened to link to another forum with your collection, but way to go Mr. Sherlock Holmes looking for his fifteen minutes of internet fame. Google is a wonderful thing.

I took a look at the thread you referred to and I will offer my official notarized apology for calling you retarded for proudly displaying your 6 foot Toys-R-Us Millennium Falcon in a brown cardboard box instead of out in the open or hung from the ceiling like it was intended. Obviously you are not retarded as you displayed with the diatribe analysis in your initial post, but displaying that bad boy in a brown box is retarded. Crack it open and let it fly!
That is, unless you are waiting for the perfect space of open architecture to grace its colossal form. In that case you are off the hook.
