Honestly, I'm kind of glad that KojiPro never got a chance to make their version of Rising, because I don't particularly enjoy what they've been doing with the storylines in recent memory :lol.

Plus, it's nice to have a game like Rising, that isn't constrained to timeline of the main series. It takes place in the future, without Snake, Big Boss, or the Patriots. So, it allows for more creative freedoms, and for Raiden to finally take the helm as Snake's successor, without him having to be in Snake's proverbial shadow.

"Our minds, free from their prisons!"

I can't believe I was hating on Rising prior to release, thinking it was going to mess up what was already established... and it turns out it barely even acknowledges the Snake universe. The most it showed, was how much Raiden admired Snake in that Codec call. Not telling us Snake's fate, was the perfect thing to do. I want to believe he's still alive.

Exactly! Rising is free from the canon, and progresses with its own, self-contained story. I was one of the folks who was reeeaaally hating on Rising, too. But, it's quite brilliant for what it is.

I think the accelerated aging should have killed Snake :lol. Unless his brain was transplanted into a cyborg body... lol.

MGR is like the Robocop of Metal Gear games - a very self-aware satire centred around an indestructible cyborg badass.

It's cheesy, but I would like to see Snake given a chance to live beyond his expiration date as a clone. He deserves it.

Absolutely, it's got humor and a high level of badassness in it. Platinum made a masterpiece.

But that didn't happen, so were only left to play the hand were dealt.

I think Snake deserves to be put to rest for future storylines like Rising. It's the only respectable thing for the character after all of that suffering and aging in MGS 4. Plus, would you really like to see him return in a cyborg body - or worse yet, have scenes with him pissing himself in Zero's wheelchair? :lol

I still really want the Original Metal Gear Solid Rising we were promised but I guess I can take this.

Same here, but with Platinum Games's gameplay. MGR had some of the most satisfying gameplay, but it would be awesome if the story was better.

The original story sounded awesome, and a it would be cool to see Solidus return to the series.

Either way though, I'm sure the game is going to be great and thinking about how it's going to look and play on current gen systems is getting me even more excited

I agree we should never see him again after MGS4. I just hate Kojima for giving him such a ****** conclusion of his life.

Definitely my most anticipated Metal Gear game, yes even more so than MGSV. :yess:

:clap:exactly:

Well to be fair, KojiPro still wrote Rising's story. IIRC it was even the writer of the PW Briefing Files that mainly wrote the story. To be brutally honest, it sounds like this problem has more to do with Kojima. In any case, KojiPro seems to write better when they're on a leash. :lol

EDIT - Yeah, just double-checked. The lead writer of Rising was Etsu Tamari who also wrote parts of the Briefing Files in PW and some of the supplementary materials.

Still gets me every time. :rotfl

Quinton Flynn is awesome, Raiden is awesome. Wouldn't it be the most ironic twist ever for MGR2 if they pull a MGS2 and have Raiden only playable in the first chapter, later to be a NPC mentor to a new cyborg? :lol
