The Buck does suck and it's only partially because of posing. It's also because of how the clothes fit and look on the Buck body. Yeah, it looks ok for figures that have many layers or very baggy clothes but figures like Han, Jedi Luke and Bespin Luke look awful at certain angles because the body isn't designed well especially the legs and hip area but also the flat, wide torso.

All IMHO of course.:monkey3

That is probably my biggest issue, is on some figures of the clothes are tight fitting you get a very emaciated/no-butt look for the figures. Han I was never that bothered by, but it does look poor on the Jedi Luke if you have him w/o the vest or cloak.

I like big butts and I cannot lie. You other brothers can't deny. When a Buck walks in with an itty bitty waist and a round thing in your face......

I can agree somewhat on Han but Bespin Luke looks fine to me. I got 2 of them and have no issue.

Why? I mean I have no issues getting any of the poses I want. I think it sucks if you're looking for extreme poses, but for me personally I've been able to achieve the poses I want for my guys.

At a stand-still pose it lacks in the aesthetics and correct posture, proportions, and form. It's just not right. Stand a Medicom, Volks Neo-Guy, or Hot Toys next to a Sideshow Buck in the exact same outfit and the Buck will not look as good. It's not about huge steps in ground breaking articulation. It's about a correct form.

The Buck looks stiff and unnatural. Sideshow has in effect admitted this themselves by collaborating with Hot Toys on new bodies.
One thing is for certain, SSC is on the road of constant improvement, while still being the lowest priced. Are the other companies doing anything to spice up their game?

So, the higher priced Luke will have a new body? there are no improvements or amount/quality of accessories in this release that justify the price. As I've stated, I DID order one, but I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse.

As for the other companies, they keep releasing solid figures and yes, they do improve. Compare the Hot Toys HALO from 5 years ago to the HALO from last year. A third generation, highly improved body, and a higher level of detail in the kit and accessories.

But the thing missing in HT and Medicom that Sideshow has is variation within its body heights. I hope when SS releases the new body this feature DOES NOT go to the wayside. I also hope we get a head adapter so we can use the new body with old sculpts.

I'm sure things will be better by working with Hot Toys. I'm just saying for what I want the Buck isn't really that bad.

I have no idea what kind of body Luke will have, and I did NOT order him simply because of the price. Its not that I don't think he's worth it, I just don't like spending that much on myself when I could take that cash and use it on vacation for my kids, or my sons braces he will eventually need etc.
I don't own any other company figures, but I salivate heavily at the HT Pirates and Warlords figures and especially the Enterbay Bruce Lee.

Constant improvement compared to Medicom and Hot Toys? I really don't think so as their figures still use the Buck body AS OF NOW and SSC has just announced their "child-body" and claims to be "looking into" a new body but there is no definite word that one is being developed. If there is, someone please tell me that Sideshow OFFICIALLY said there will be a new body style. Of course Sideshow is the lowest price of the threee, but if they want to climb the mountain that HT is standing on right now, higher prices might come along with that challenge.

As for "spicing up their game"...I suppose you haven't seen Hot Toys' Terminator Endoskeleton, ED-209, Powerloader, AvP Alien Warrior and the ALIENS Alien Warrior to name a few? .... :D

It doesn't matter to me what the cost is, I know what my limit will be.
I don't think that SSC will lower the prices anytime soon either. For everyone who says they'll stop when the price get's too high SSC knows there'll be 10 more people who won't stop buying them.

Why yes they are. Look at the new Superman 2 in 1 from Hot Toys or the Appleseed figures and their new rubber suits. Also Hot Toys uses a drastically different body today than they did when they made the Matrix NEO figure or Tom Cruise from Mission: Impossible 2 from a few years ago.

Look at the new figures Medicom has coming out. The outfits for the "Legends of Rock" lines look real. If not for the scale you would think their pics of Mick Jagger and Freddy Mercury are for real people. Also, Medicom has redesigned there basic super hero body, a body that is unique already, for the Fist of the Northstar figures and the Son Goku figure from Dragonball Z.

Sideshow makes great stuff, that was once very affordable, but they are still basic human figures, with exception to Jabba the Hutt. Hot Toys puts out the Power Loader, Alien and Predator figures.

If we are going to compare Sideshow to Hot Toys and Medicom when it comes to inovation in the 1/6 market, Sideshow will not fare well.

I don't want to compare the SSC dolls to HT or Medicom dolls. I tell it to you as I see it. I received the Bespin Luke and Princess Leia Organa 12inchs last week, and I'm disappointed. Because of the Buck body, these figures come across very toy-ish. Pretty stiff. Luke also had this 'elbow issue'. I'm a huge fan of the OT, but so far, I have to admit that all of the PT 12" figures SSC has released are much better than what we are getting now from the OT - with exception of Old Ben perhaps. That makes me feel like right now, with the higer prices, I'm paying more for worse! And with the recent price increases, that feeling is only getting stronger. I really hope that SSC changes something on those new figures to come. I don't expect much from the Commander Praji figure. I expect a lot from Palpatine/Sidious, but that's PT again. Smuggler Han promises to be one of the better OT figures, but the ANH Luke doesn't look like Luke at all to me. And those ridicules big hands... All Luke's suffer the hand elephantiasis disease. The way I see it, we're made to pay more for these figures, but there is no real improvement compared to the PT jedi.

I also received the Medicom Jango Fett, and the only thing that bugged me about him, was the helmet issue: it doesn't fit right. I know there's a solution to this, but for $150 these things should not happen. If one pays $150 for a 12" doll, and it still ain't right, asking higher dollar for 12" figures can't be the right way. The Medicom's are overpriced.

Both companies should get their issues under control before they make people pay amounts that are not in accord with their product.

Well guys what do you think now? Gandalf and Indy are both at $89.99. The quality appears better though. However, neither sold out. I think that is suprising considering the popularity of the characters. I will pay $89.99 no problem for Indy. Gandalf I am still on the fence. I think he looks great though. What are your thoughts?

with the addition of the prometheus body and extra accessories, the natural evolution would be for the price to go up. as long as there is no corners cut and they continue to improve their quality, i don't have a problem with the price increase as of today. seems the improvements are justifying the increase.

The Buck is (hopefully) finally going to die. And people are still having "Buck vs Every Other Body" arguments?

Oh and the buck is a horrible body. It doesn't look good or natural in any pose that you can get it in.
