It starts in 5 weeks but they don't know which or how many characters they can afford? That sounds a bit strange.

And, when we were trying to figure out who would be the right element to make this combination work of Duke as the leader and Ripcord as the best friend who sorta gets Duke in trouble all the time and Duke has to bail him out all the time and have fun with him, we needed a guy who's gonna be funny and we needed a guy who was going to be a good actor. And we went to Marlon and said, "We'd love to talk to you."
Isn't that the same formula that made the Dungeons and Dragons movie such a huge success?

wow, please scrap this attempt...half a$$ attempt....at a movie.

this thing is looking like a straight to dvd movie. i really hope i'm wrong.

I feel a little better after reading that interview, however, the "we don't know how many characters we can afford" is a bit wierd. Plus not being able to revise the script because of the strike. Hmmmm... Still no mention of Cobra Commander. He better not just be a cameo or something lame like Venom.

I hate to say this, but anytime a Wayans Brother is involved usually = steaming pile of crap. And I really wanted this to work.
*Sigh*

Add Stephen ("Van Helsing") Sommers and you have a double-dose of poop.

And these two hacks are just TWO of the many horrible things this flick has going against it.

This film has a lot against it but I'm willing to give Sommers a chance I loved the Mummy and many people hated Michael Bay before Transformers including myself and I loved TF.

Marlon Wayans on the other hand is death only thing worse would be Andy Garcia who is box office poison:lol

I'm hopeful this will work but the interview made me more worried instead of more comforted.

If Transformers was the "Spider-Man" of 80's cartoon/toy movies then it sure didn't take long sink to Punisher/Fantastic Four cinematic lows.

Marlon Wayans being a fan of GI Joe means nothing, I'm sure he loved Dungeons & Dragons and so did the director.

And I really have to roll my eyes at the "have faith, look how well Transformers turned out" comments. Oh so GI Joe will have Michael Bay directing, Steven Spielberg executive producing, and the complete absence of Stephen Sommers and Marlon Wayans? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Michael Bay is far from a maestro but he's heads and shoulders better than Sommers, imho. Not even close. Sommers' best movie was the first "Mummy" and that's nothing to boast about at all. The rest is just complete and utter drek: "Deep Rising" is a fun bad B-movie at best and "The Mummy Returns" & "Van Helsing" are among the worst big budget movies to hit the screen in recent years. Bay has never made movies that bad, not even "Pearl Harbor", which is his worst.

EXACTLY. Also, Shai LeBouf carried much of "Transformers" on his talent and charisma alone. Without him, a lot of that movie would not have worked. Does any rational or sane person think Marlon Wayans has a snowball's chance in hell of doing that?

G.I. JOE is D.O.A. It would take a near miracle for this movie to even end up "okay". There is just too much Horrible involved.

You know what this movie reminds me of? The Streetfighter movie. They will try to stick as many frickin characters as possible in to a 1 1/2 hour movie and use the story as filler between the cameos. Scary.

Oh man, I had forgotten about that movie! That was horrible! I saw it in the theater and people were walking out!

That didn't make me feel any better about this movie.
Anything associated with Stephen Sommers, Marlon Wayans, and the producer of Transformers has got to be a turd.

:lol I was just telling a friend of mie that the GI Joe movie looks like it could be the next Street Fighter movie. I saw that movie when i was little and thought it was awsome, then i grow up and it's :yuck

Just took it upon myself to check on the latest updates for this train wreck in the making. Apparently the kid from "3rd Rock from the Sun" will be playing Cobra Commander and Channing Tatum, star of "Step Up" (had to Google him) will be playing Duke.

People were making jokes about them casting Gilbert Godfried and Fran Drescher. I'm sure its only a matter of time.

*shakes head*

While I don't see him being Cobra Commander, he is a great actor these days. Check out a movie called "Brick".

This movie is gonna suck so f'n bad:monkey2

At least Transformers was kick ass, at least IMO. I have zero hope for this movie. G I JOE is as much a part of my childhood as Transformers, He-Man, & Thunder Cats, I just hate to see it shat on by the giant ******* of Hollywood:monkey4
