Hot Toys Announce Batman Returns License

With Arkham being shown, you can pretty much bet on Returns being scrapped.

There's no way they'd offer two different Batman figures in the rotation of the same year. They didn't do it with the Bale Batman figures or the DX 09 or the Adam West, probably because they don't want competing Batman sales from people who would choose one over the other. So even if Returns stuff did end up happening, you're looking at a July 2015 reveal date, an August preorder, and a Q2/Q3 2016 release date . . . ouch.

That won't happen either because 2015/2016 will be the years of the Batman vs. Superman Affleck Batman.

Batman has e same formula as Iron Man - produce as many variants as you can, they will and must be bought by collectors regardless.

Just look at the Kenner figs from the 90s, how many variants does Batman have, compared to say, Superman or Iron Man

The last interview with Howard stated that the Batman prototype was almost done, but that Penguin & Catwoman would be delayed... So I would assume that means we will see Batman first (if we ever see any of them at all... which seems less and less likely as the years roll on).

Yeah but there's still hope for Returns to be the HT Batman product of 2015. They're not going to reveal their Batfleck before the movie is out, so even though it's inevitable, we won't see the Hot Toys Batfleck until 2016...for a release in 2017 (or at the earliest, Q4 2016).

Don't take those interviews too serious... Howard Chan also said that Anakin Skywalker was going to be announced in the last months of 2013...

A sad possibility. At least $1000 just for 3 1/6 figures, 2 of which with probable issues of costumes prematurely cracking.

I hope we see this. Arkham had been much anticipated by me, but I love Keaton's films, too, and this is one that's been just as much of a long time coming as that one, if not moreso. At the very least, I hope they make Batman, but, at this point, I say "**** it," when it comes to stuff like Penguin and Catwoman. You made a special body for a damned Raccoon, Howard. It's awesome, but, nevertheless, if you could do that, I see no reason why there can't be a short fat man body for Oswald.

I was eagerly awaiting both Returns Keaton and Arkham Bats. With the reveal of Arkham, I hope they put some space between these 2. My wallet can only take so much.

I don't know, I take the opposite view. Maybe Hot Toys thinks that pretty much everyone who likes Keaton Batman bought the 1989 figure. Will people who own the 1989 Batman be willing to buy the 92 figure? Catwoman, on the other hand, is a completely new character, and a classic one.

They can still space out the POs. I just think it'd be nice if they were like "okay, look; see? We're making it. It might not be out just yet, but it's coming, so don't worry" and had it on display.

I would be ok with that. I do want a Keaton Batman in my collection, and the Returns suit was my fav.

I'd thought we'd see Arkham Batman and Joker this year, with Returns next year. Maybe they'll still sneak in a surprise, but honestly it could be too expensive for me if they do.
