Re: Predator Reboot...

Who's hating on Glover?
Can't be arsed reading through arguments on potential film scripts.
I'd rather just wait and see.

no one in here. Just in general. Ask anyone (not a predator superfan) that has seen the movies what they think about Harrigan.... most people either laugh or say the character was crap.

Re: Predator Reboot...

We have all had this discussion one way or another before. and what you said here is absolutely true and its been said a million times. I just hope that the next movie does not come up with any reason for the predator to be anything less than a seasoned warrior that is seemingly unstoppable despite all our best efforts.

I hope your speaking generally here and not about my posts, because I actually agree with most of this. The original predator was made during the glory days of Arnold one man army commando days. It took Arnold in his prime and added a cool scifi twist to what seemed like Commando 2 at first. I think people are clinging to that aspect of the movie to much when they throw out names like the Rock and Vin Diesel for a new predator movie. In reality the whole, cigar chomping, one man army thing just doesn't work any more. As far as Glover goes, I have liked him in almost everything I've seen him in. He brings a very believable grit to his characters.

yeah it was general. Just that since we were talking about Predator 2 it reminded me of the hate for Glover in the movie

I figured that was not directed at me. Well it's probably going to be a while till we actually see anything substantial about this film. I know any speculation about the script right now pretty much boils down to opinions and a** holes. But, I'm pretty sure all of us can agree that this movie NEEDS to be good. Predators 2010 missfire really reminded me how far this franchise has strayed from the path, and frankly I'm starting to lose interest. I really believe it can be great again. Just the idea itself puts a big smile on my face. I've been retarded for this franchise as long as I can remember. I Just hope they give me something to work with anything.

Fox is lucky people want to see anything after AVP and AVP R.

I have never seen a company be so completely miss the mark like this. Fox is lucky people are such hardcore fans of the properties. What I wouldn't give for Predator or Alien to be a Marvel property......

With X-men DoFP and Dawn of tPotA I'd say fox is very much attempting to compete with marvel MCU. I just hope Fox puts the same level of creativity effort into a new pred film.

Yes I agree, I dont want them to interfere much with the production and trust Black to do a good job, because Fox ruin everything

As a huge Predator fan, I despise Harrigan as I never once believed he was bad-ass enough to go against a Pred. Scar was a young Pred so I give that girl a pass and it was AvP, but for all the stuff City Hunter did, there's no way "too old for this..." Glover ever looked believable to me.

The movie needs a decent budget behind it. You get tell in Predators that the budget wasn't the best; well in terms of what they wanted to achieve with an alien planet they could have done with a bigger budget.

Regardless of anything else, firstly they need to write the Predator correctly and execute it perfect on screen (please make the mandibles close this time!!! :gah:).

Yeah I like Glover as an actor, and I'll grant that he could have got the drop on the predator in that freezer ambush, but when they were alone on that roof top it should have been curtains score 1 ***** face: 0 Harrigan. Don't even get me started with Scars enemy of my enemy fling with that chick :slap

This is absolutely the most important factor. I think a big budget would help this film meet expectations, but I hope they will never repeat the mistakes of AVP and make the movie PG13 in order to protect profits. A good predator film that fans can get behind will do well regardless of an R rating.

I agree that Predators suffered from an inadequate budget. So much about that film sounds great on paper, but it just wasn't fully realized. Also just as in Spiderman 3 Topher Grace Topher bombed the films third act.

I remember hearing the plot for the first time and it sounded great. But yeah, it wasn't fully realised and failed with the Predator parts of the film. I want to see a Predator on screen again that I know won't die after five minutes of showing up. One Pred that survives at least until the end of the final act is a must.

Oh hell no.

Wait, so a climber girl with no combat experience is ok but the most seasoned, tough, authority problem driven, make the Colombian drug cartel retreat to their building all by himself cop in LA isn't?

:lol

That is possibly the most epic fail in all of the predator films. I realize they were attempting to pay homage to Machicko, and I totally loved her storyline in the comics as a kid, but I just can't forgive what they did with Scar there. I have to give Predators a little credit for atleast keeping the predator in character when Royce released him. First thing he does is grabs him and gives him that I know you just saved my a*s but I still want to rip your face off so bad look.

I don't hold the two AVP standard anywhere near the first two. Wolf Predator is the only exception.

I know, I'm still mad they had the Berserker predator killed him, kinda like "my predator is better than yours" :lol

Rodriguez should've been smarter and have the classic Pred win and have him die by his wound or something.

Yeah, AVP and the Machiko homage is fan service gone wrong.

Wolf Predator was an awesome design and he is a badass warrior, too bad he starred in a teenage drama slasher instead of a predator movie :lol

Re: Predator Reboot...

Indeed, Wolf is a kickass predator given a horrible script, and even worse, lame human co-actors. :lol

The irony here being that it wasn't even Dutch's brute force that saved him but his intelligence. Yes being strong helped him set up the traps but he was NOT even able to beat up the predator in a fist fight.

Someone like Arnold was not even able to hurt the predator with his own fists. It took the use of his brain to finally defeat him. that could have been any of the guys in Dutch squad.

That was EXACTLY the problem, the reason everyone died. They were all trying to kill the predator with guns and pure force. they relied on their guns. Dutch was finally able to rely on his brain and won.

it wasn't even because Dutch was the most badass.

Harrigan Saw things that no one saw, clues that no one cared about. He saw between the lines. he was the most clever person in his department. The one that realized there was something else going on, something weird.

If you think about it like that, about Their BRAINS, Harrigan makes perfect sense. if it wasn't for him no one would know it was the predator killing. Everyone thought it was just a guy killing
