i believe they'll like the fact that godzilla here is good and seen as a hero and not killed by humans

I've got a feeling the Japanese market won't open up to it.

My guess is they're enjoy the kaiju moments but probably not think highly of the human side, probably too western for their tastes.

Overall, no, but I think the monster fighting delivers on classic Godzilla, but I think the overall movie is not necessarily what they'd like, then again, Godzilla did amazing in China and I would think even China would have tastes in monster movies that this wouldn't speak to where a Transformers or something might do better, so maybe, we'll see. The fact that the SHMA figure and the theater statue both take liberties and change aspects of his design already says they're not 100% happy with it.

I think the movie has a lot of the originals feel to it, key characters dying left and right would impact west and east about the same, the fact that godzilla didn't side with the humans, he had his on agenda, him helping the us military was purely incidental, and when he was "done" he couldn't care less about human presence, I loved it lol

To date, this is the nicest look I've had at that scene, so just seeing the detail difference, I can't wait to finally see this movie.

Correct, I've seen some scenes via bootleg but that's it, waiting for Blu Ray.

Interesting read, some folks at Tohokingdom have said their theater was too dark to make out a lot of the detail you see in this shot so it makes me feel better about the first viewing having to be on BR, then I know the picture will be perfect because this movie is rich with detail.

Apparently that's been a running problem. Something about the theater leaving the 3D projector lense on even though it's a 2D showing which makes it darker.

It's all good. I just figured, if there was someone that was going to watch this on day 1, it would be you.

My wife and I had a baby due at the end of May so it didn't work to get out to the theater, but I'm happy enough, I have a healthy, wonderful baby boy and when I finally see the movie it'll be in pure, HD glory and worth the wait.
