well 1/6 scale for the Bat was not going to happen. if you dont like 1/12 scale then ya dont buy it. but the scale is meant for traditional 6 inch figures, so its not like the scale is out of whack with other collectibles. And because of the popularity of TDK, wouldnt be shocked if they made other 1/12 scale items. Most likely wont, but you never know.
Well the going rate for all 6 inch is rising. DC Direct stuff keeps going up, there over $20 now, probably be $30 really soon. I only compare it to Maefx because they have a similar design to these 2 HTs figures, and the HTs Batman looks far better. They could improve them as well over the next year, have to wait and see. Its sort of the nature with HTs. Everyone was really down on the QS001 when it first was shown, then everyone loved it because of how much they improved it then people scrambled to get it because it was selling out.
I honestly can't see this being cheaper either. I was one who kept saying back a few years ago that if they did a 1/6 it was going to be like $3000+ if we were lucky. at $800 its not that shocking to me because of the complexity of it. the 89 Batmobile was $629 which is not as complex as this and is going to be close to the same size. Seeing the photo of it next to the 66 Batmobile shows how big its going to be.
But look i understand your willingness not to buy it. Dont go by me at all. I really want it, im willing to spend a little more than usual to get it and cut back on other figures that I dont really need in 2015 because I collect TDK stuff first. I had been getting some Marvel stuff the last 2 years, but 2015 wont have anything i really want from the big movies coming out, ill just consider this like buying 3-4 figures from Marvel that i don't really need, and still have plenty in my figure budget to buy any other Batman stuff that might come out in 2015. 2015 is a perfect year for me that this is coming out, had it been this year with the Armory set, MoS and Winter Soldier, i probably would have had to have passed on Winter Soldier since the 5 Winter Soldier figures are over $1000 combined

so ya this stuff is expensive, but i love collecting them, so i just give myself a yearly budget and stick to it
