The eyes are just killing this guy. Pull the plastic out and the head looks right. Paint job on the face really isn't that bad, its the eyes that kill it.

Who would have thought that SSC would figure out how to produce nice, clean irises only to ruin the eyes in other ways.

Did a quick repaint tonight for sheets and giggles. I still need to do the scars and few other bits but I like how it turned out. Can't get the picture to look right but you get the idea.

If I get this, I'll just scrub off all the paintwork with thinner and start afresh. The stock paint app is way to dollie for me.

I stripped the whole thing. I wasnt going to paint it at first but the paint on this head is really fragile and it got scuffed just messing about with it. So I jumped in.

Looks good Robbie I think the stubble adds a ton to this sculpt. loooks great man as usual...more pics!

That bad? Wow.

Does it actually have paint of the stock head or is did they mold it with colored plastic? When I was stripping the paint off the Sideshow Lara Croft, there was nothing much to strip aside from the cross eyes and lip color. The plastic was the stock skin color.

this head is casted really close to the final skin tone...not much paint has been added to it

I see, thanks for the info. Look like I'll have to stock up on spray on primers then.

The flesh is pretty close and the hair is an orange color. The eyes are in a translucent/semi opaque grey white that has been painted white over the top. I stripped the white off and painted directly to the base plastic. I think it looks great already, just needs the pink and the irises painted on.

Im casting a copy into resin to repaint it. Then modding the original....might realhair it..... seems like a good candidate for it with the hair being removable anyway

Sounds like a plan. I wished I knew how to recast.

In any case, I hope Sideshow stops releasing model kits from now on. It's inevitable that I need a few days to completely overhaul the head. Disassemble, strip, prime, paint, seal and shade the whole damn thing. I can feel the backache coming already.

I think my Nate looks way too dark. He looks like Zombie Drake. I emailed Sideshow about this, but for another reason as well. My figure's hips are loose, while it's shoulders are tight and click.

Just wait for a custom HS. I'm sure there will be one. Rehmier84 should be showing his off soon. As for the body, if it really bothers you I'd contact SSC. I haven't gotten mine yet but the arm might be using ratchet joints?
