I hope for further releases they add a few pieces to make a 2nd outfit. It wouldn't work for full outfits, true, but every Doctor had some variants. For example I'd like 9 to come with a navy, green and red jumper. Then they can charge a tad more and still have a form of "expansion pack" aswell as give us more options.

Big Chief are a very small company .... I don't think they should get as much slack as some people give them for that, but
I think its a good extra revenue raiser to help keep them going, by doing this sort of thing as variant exclusives either on their site or for conventions, etc....

Jumper colour, hat/fez wearing sculpts, etc.... could serve this purpose and create some nice 'chase variants' for us to drool over.

That's sort of my problem with variants right now - all some people can do is drool over the pictures.

I enjoy variants a lot, but if they're for example convention exclusives, a lot of people have no way of getting them at all without paying scalper prices on eBay and Big Chief won't be getting the profit the eBay seller makes. I'm all for exclusive variants but only if there's a decent way to try and get them.

BCS just posted that expansion packs have been put on hold indefinitely.

Anyone surprised? Not me. :wave

Not surprised at all. I'm a huge fan and I buy everything, but unlikely to buy a mop and a fez. And if I'm any indication, high end collectors aren't dressing and undressing their dollies. We're posing them and leaving them that way until we walk by again and decide to change the pose.

And that just about sums it up.
I did redress a rebuilt 10 CO Doctor in space suit onto an HT TT body though... However, my reality is as above. I have them posed, and yes, every time I walk past, I tweak the poses slightly. Oh, on a somewhat related note...my mates were around last night and one dude was well taken by the Tony Stark, so decided to tweak the pose. The arm (Iron a Man suit version) came off, and he was horrified, thinking he'd broken it. I went along for a bit, but had to show him it was held in place magnetically and hadn't damaged it!!
Anyways, I'm up for purchasing a new figure in a new costume over just buying a costume, any day of the week.

The expansion packs being put on hold dies not surprise me. However, the concept of the pack, on a figure, creating a Mk2 of the figure like thus 11, is a much better idea.

Same points I made years ago, great to see people finally get it...

What a shame Daron's not here so you can say 'I told you so' to him as well.

The thing is, as an idea it was a lot of fun. It reminded me of the Action Man accessory packs I had as a kid. The shots of the prototypes were fun too. Sometimes great ideas don't survive contact with reality but they're still worth putting out there. The Mongo Beefhead Tribesman never made it to a shop but I'm glad Kenner considered it, and as for their Alien line, well, it's on my shelf now 35 years after it was cancelled. Maybe these will show up in 2049!

Anyway, moving on. I don't redress dollies either and I'm not even much of a fan of accessories beyond a character's signature weapon (if you can apply that term to a sonic screwdriver). But I love news and rumours about action figures so please BCS, keep the creativity coming.

Just noticed that the forthcoming 11 Dynamix on BC's FB page will have an alternate fez head. Now that would be a cool exclusive with this version of 11 if they could retool the head.

It was a fun idea, as Captain B said. It's a shame they couldn't make it work. Bravo Liz for taking the high road. :lol

My position is that there are some things that make sense for a fully new figure and some that make more sense for an accessory pack.

The blue shirt and suspenders would have been a great expansion pack, because some people may just perfer that look. Same with the Fez head. That could become their default head or shirt. Basically, it's those items that would be good for them to have just included as options to start with, but they couldn't financially. Things like the Ganger head made sense, too, if the impetus was just to buy another 11 and make the Ganger Doc too. But at that point it probably is best to just release a Ganger Doc figure. But I doubt many people would buy that.

I won't lie, I really wanted that Ganger head. Loved the Ganger Doctor to bits.

I'll never get used to our friends in the US calling braces 'suspenders'! Here, asking BCS to make an 11th Doctor figure in blue suspenders would get you some very funny looks...

I wouldn't mind owning an 11th Doctor in blue British suspenders...

Yeah, that story is not one of my favorites. Now, the cybermat would have been fun though.

Not interested in Ganger Doctor at all, it's the only version of 11 I wouldn't buy.

Ganger doctor head should be an EX bonus ...definitely not a separate figure.

Someone on the BC fans page said they'd had an email from BC saying this would be up for pre-order at the end of February. If this is correct, then bring it on!

Too bad that we'll miss the expansion packs. While I'd rather have a full figure, I thought it more likely an expansion pack could be done on the cheap and the shipping, etc would have been so low that it would have made sense to buy them.

I used to be a junky for quantity, so had no problem with just buying a full new figure, but personally, space and price are converging toward making expansion packs valid, especially for figures like the Doctor who the outfit itself is generally the same.

As it is, after the currency conversion and shipping the $200+ per figure is killing me.
