Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Got my Ex bats in today. A little on the fence. It is a beautiful sculpt. Even the base is a work of art. The cape must weigh 3-4 pounds and is a thing to behold. The pose is perfect. I just dont like the mixed media. If they had done this piece in 100% polystone with no cloth this would be my absolute favorite piece in my collection. It is beautiful. Everything on mine is perfect thankfully. The only small blemish is on one of his knees you can see where the fabric rubbed a tad...but its only noticeable if you get really close. It looks like the entire body is fully shaped underneath the clothing. Has anyone thought about removing his clothing and painting the actual body? I know there are some talented artists on here who do custom work. I would be interested in seeing this on one and possibly having it done on mine.
There is a guy on another forum who is doing just that. He has posted pics of the PF with all of the cloth removed.

Re: Sideshow Batman PF?

This pf has surprisingly some negative posts on the net. ie clothing too loose around the arm pits, face too dark or something. Something about a bad batch at first. Joining this thread to stay up to speed with you guys.

At the very least I would just keep the order and find out for yourself once you get it. I found it very impressive when I got mine despite things that have been said about it. If you decide it's not for you just return it.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Mr. Green got this earlier today. Mostly impressive; worth the money; definitely a keeper; box's big enough to live in. The biggest negative is the arm pit. Some of you guys must be sugar coating it, cause its bad. A small scratch on the chin. Both head got too much dark skin. A couple of glossy smuggles on the back of the cape. Green will definitely have to glue the arm pit soon.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

You think so? I've never done waitlist before. What percentage would you say I had if you had to put a number on it?

Depends on the statue. If it's a hot one...slim

This could be an exception. Hot one with a large ex run. 2000 pieces...

I'd say 50/50. You either get lucky or you don't. :lol Good luck tho. :wave

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I think your math is a little off. Unless you live in Cali (then you'd be paying tax on the PF), this bad boy cost $53 to ship to you.

Nothing is wrong with his math, I got charged the exact same amount.

California tax was about 30 bucks and shipping was 23.

It costs $53 to ship out of California? :monkey4 My shipping notice does say it weighs 33 lbs...

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Not sure how many rules you have JAWS but rule #2 should be give it "X" amount of time before you make a decision. X is up to you though. I just think you might be jumping the gun too soon. Good luck with it.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

I briefly opened it up to check it was all in one piece & it seems to be but by god was that a bad move :(
Not only is it a total pig to get out of the shipping box but the I had no idea which way up I was supposed to open the Polystyrene (Upside if your interested ;) lol) & also the polystyrene is buggered around the base :(
Basically the base had shifted in transit & has punched a perfectly circle hole all around the base :(
I've sellotaped the polystyrene back in place but I'm terrified about opening it up again.

No pics of the actual piece as Chloe was way too inquisitive obviously so couldn't get round to it & based on how fragile & scared of it I am there may never actually be any.
I love it but I'm seriously in 2 minds about keeping it...it's so freaking huge I doubt I'll ever have space to display it & the worries about the packaging & just moving it freak me out & I still need to move it to the storage unit...scary times.

Neil

My styrofoam has a hole in it where the base was too. I just taped it up. Now it's not going anywhere.

Well, I did state in my post that if he lived in Cali then taxes would come into play. If he doesn't live in Cali, then shipping was $53. Shipping for me was $43 but I live close to Chicago. Yeah, this piece does weigh north of 30 lbs. He's definitely well put together and has some good heft to him. This is an awesome PF. I hope yours arrives minty fresh.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Just got mine today and was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have the glaring armpit problem. Will set up proper lighting for pics tomorrow in order to show that not all versions have issues. This is hands down the finest piece I have ever received. So glad I did not let some pics convince me to cancel my order.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Got mine today, 89/2000 - Armpits were decent, but noticeable. Didn't notice any other major issues, will more fully inspect when I move him to my house (had him shipped to my parents as someone is usually home during the day there).

All it made me do was crave supes more though!

Thank you, I hope he arrives okay too. I have to go to school tomorrow so my twin sister better not open it before I get home!!!

I'm actually really surprised that shipping costs $40-50 bucks for states outside California. I was always secretly annoyed that SSC is located in CA because I have to pay tax, but now that I know everyone else gets dinged by steeper shipping I won't complain anymore xD

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

i just ordered a regular release from alter ego comics and they charged $20.50 shipping. sounds too good to be true after hearing from you guys?

I agree with you. Saw Bats at an LCS and wasn't impressed but to each their own. Here is hoping Supes comes out much better. I cancelled my Supes Ex but will pick one up Reg or Ex IF Supes turns out better quality. If not, no biggie I will wait for Sideshow to get next Bats and Supes PF Perfect. LOL I'm cool to wait a long time if need be.

Some companies do offer breaks in their shipping charges. Sideshow does not but other companies that sell Sideshow products do.

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

The cheap shipping is because alter ego is having sideshow drop ship it . That basically means SS is shipping it. For $10 you could hold out hope and get on the ex waitlist. ($30 tax minus $20 to you pay $10 for the ex)

Re: Official Sideshow Batman PF

Damn dude, Mr. Green's Bats taken with the flash really makes his pits look like ****. Is it me, because every time I look at Batman from the EX side, with as bad as the pits are on that side, it always look way off. The suit is so stretched out and sagging on that side, it looks as if he has no muscle definition, as well as making the chest logo look small, puny, and cheap. Especially when the pic is taken from a distance on the EX side using the AB sculpt.

I know it's better and worse on others, but Green's flash photos really highlight how cheap it looks. NO to flash photos!
