That's a sexy looking machine. Apparently it's going to be priced at the same amount as the Xbox One. If that's the case I'll be preordering this day one

Have you changed any setting in windows firewall or your virus protection? I had a similar problem ages ago & it was virus protection blocking steam.

You guessed it....I finally went into Norton and changed "auto" to "allow" for Steam...problem solved. Not sure why it decided all of a sudden to block it.

Windows has a free program for anti virus/malware/spyware that isn't as intrusive. Mostly you can do without as long as you are careful--don't download attachments from emails you don't know what they are, and don't go to sites you don't trust.

The error came back...i disabled norton and still doing it. What a pain.

Maybe it's something with my router.

my first thought: make sure you don't have a malware, spyware program other than Norton, giving it hell

I run Norton, and spyware all the time, but never have had a steam issue (thus far)

I logged into steampowered.com and it sent me another verification code....it's acting like I'm on a new PC. It's working now.

I've never had a problem before until a few days ago. Maybe it will go away.

Before that I did a complete reinstall of Steam but it didn't do anything.

Oh well, it's working now.

Can't be mad for them having a brilliant way to make money.

DOTA 2 (Free to Play) probably makes more money than a vast majority of their priced games...

TF2 came out in 2007. Last year the top community model makers(non valve employees) of the misc items that are purely decorative were making half a million each. They get the lower end of the sales and they do all the work. Factor in the Mann Co Key sales to open crates + weapons and items Valve made themselves and get full percentage of when they sell in store and they have literally made more since they went Free to Play then they did selling the game. Tens of millions still yearly from a Free to Play game that's 8 years old. And they have the Steam market where you can buy and sell those items and they take a percentage of every sale.

Soon Black Mesa : Source, the non official remake of Half-Life 1 will be officially released on Steam and they'll clean up from that too.
