I thought I was the only one who thought Sean was overly positive. :lol He's really doing a disservice to collectors who favor quality...

I've never seen one of his videos, nor do I care what they are. But isn't it a bit hypocritical to harsh on someone for being overly positive while jumping on members here for criticizing some for being overly negative?

And I don't care about any one particular side, just making an observation. And I am not singling anyone out.

Being overly enthusiastic in either direction is bad. Being honest and fair is the way to go.

:exactly: If someone says bad things about a figure, it's fine so long as they're warranted. Panning a figure because they feel like it… Well, no. The same can be said for reviewers who say a particular figure is amazing, but they avoid discussing issues like hard-to-swap joints (stuff they probably experienced but don't want to discuss in the review). I personally like it when reviewers give both the good and the bad aspects of a figure, even of a figure I'm buying, because that way I'm prepared when the figure comes to my own collection.

I also wonder how many members here would consider being a little more positive about a figure if they got theirs for free. It would be pretty had not to.

Exactly. It's hard to review the value of a figure if you don't feel the sting of paying for it.

Then again, that is all relative as well, since a $300 figure is an outrageous expenditure for some and a drop in the bucket for others.

And keep in mind its not just sean... Its pretty well any sponsored reviewer. Wasnt there something with optibotimus too? Was saying what a great value these pieces were when he was getting deep discounts and what not..?

Personally I like sean, hes a fellow nerd after all.

I think I've seen a few of Seans reviews, but I'm not sure. They can be funny.

Yeah I try to go back and be honest about a toy. I did it with the Medicom EVAs for sure. I've never gotten one for free though haha. I've been thinking about doing videos where I only revisit previous releases after handling them for a few months and getting reactions.

I think if you're going to review toys and you don't mention the downsides or the corners that were cut, you're doing a big dis-service to anybody who watches and your fans. You're not really reviewing something, you're just showing off your collection. Of course, I have a lot to learn myself, but if you're just a commercial to move units so you can get more free stuff... how does that help your viewers?

I plan on reviewing some of my HT releases after xmas anyway.
A little bit of info about flaw or common issue could save somebody time and money.

So has interest and excitement for Midas cooled down that much?

Think I'm gonna hold on to my extra for a while. Got some Mk3 BDs and Mk4's offered to me for it, but the Mk3's were all missing something and I don't know that I really care about the Mk4. I don't know.

Still loving my Midas, which is all that really matters.

I think it's just a glut of people selling and people buying.
Looks like the prices on ebay have dropped slightly. I think I saw like 3 pages of people selling them haha.

Also, selling stuff at x-mas is like drawing blood from a stone haha.
Cash is tied up everywhere.

If you get a figure for a discount or free then you have no opinion on its value, that's how I see it, its like people who download games for free, oh its a good game, yeah you didn't pay €60 for it like me so your opinion is invalid.

I watch this guy called Clipper King cause he kinda tells it how it is, he will say whats good and what's **** and if it's worth it, also as for Sean Long, I can't stand the way he cuts his videos either...

"and this Tony comes wi/these are his accesor/onto articulation..."

:lol

Is that the teaser for Mark 41 a.k.a Bones?? :wink1:

Do a light up base and an extra head really make that much of a difference to you?
Yes. That and tons of details! :lecture

Then your kids run in and smash all your iron men in the ground opening presents! haha

This.
And not to beat a dead horse but $300 for a figure (or $430 on ebay) is a lot when you're not even getting a face sculpt or light up base. It's an awesome looking paint job but I'm seriously considering returning mine just because I'm having trouble justifying the cost/value ratio (plus I'm not a huge Iron man fan). For $300 hot toys was selling the Dx07 Luke with two head sculpts, two complete bodies and two stands, one of which is a crazy huge light up die cast stand.

:exactly:

I felt very lucky, my War Machine Ex and this converted in the same day and the fact that this one is more than the metal War machine seems very odd. Guess you gotta pay to get the "gold" :lol
