by the way his shoulders are up just enough.

i guess on a toy a whole shoulder/chest section behind the chest armor plate goes up and down:

two positions (and paint already gone off on both shoulders WTF???):

a moving plate (metal color) between metal chest and black shoulder joint:

so... wanna movie proper wing shoulders - have to raise the arms up.

It's gotta be robocop 2, am I the only one here who thinks that the station that comes with robocop is lame? From a toy perspective, I just don't see how it is a neat addition.

i dunno.
i played robocop on dendy, he used the chair to fix himself.
when i'll put my robocop into the chair, it'll remind me of my childhood. kind of nostalgy. one figure for shooting, one for relaxing, one for fighting the 209.
on the other hand, every made item is a new item, every unmade item is just nothing, and i don't know anybody who collects nothings.
I don't think anything about this figure is lame.
well, no face under the helmet in 2013 is absolutely lame.
again, when i was a kid, we dreamt about terminator and robocop toys - and there was always somebody who claimed to have seen or heard of a terminator skeleton with moving fingers or robocop with his helmet going off, revealing the face.
we've got terminators of 15-20 years ago kid's dreams, so where is that damn robocop with removable helmet?

It's been done. :p

I have to say, that as someone who is new to flex pay, I am concerned with the final payment of chairless robocop and ed-209 cause of the majority of the cost comment that I heard about in this thread. I don't want to end up paying too much for both figures in one shot come february 2014.

I am of two minds, in the movie it is a different story, I mean I don't have a problem with the chair he uses in the movie. As for the blue on robocop, I don't recall him looking blue in general in robocop 1. Is it me or did robocop's black neck piece magically disappear in the final act of robocop? I don't remember him taking it off.

Well you're basically looking for a play feature there. Helmetless Robocop in the movies is more than just the silver cranial piece coming off which surely you know yourself. Maybe you could get that to be removeable but it wouldn't be an accurate look because the chin piece and neck stuff would still be there.

I have no problem with them just going with their removeable mouth pieces thing and helmetless Robo being a separate figure that can be wholly accurate.

it's you who says so, not me.
not much more difficult than with T-1000's police helmet. take off the helmet, than take off the head, than take off the chin/neck black cover, like with predator collars, then put the head/neck back.
that damn black neck cover had to be soft & bendable anyway.

About the helmet and mouth piece, I think they could be removed if they were unified. as for the black neck piece, it could be a snap together type of deal or magnetic or something else. As for the neck piece, as far as I am concerned, we don't get to see hiim take it off from what I remember. Ok, I just re-watched the unmasking bit from robocop, the mouth piece is in deed connected to the helmet, and the black neck piece seems to magically disappear after he removes the helmet and mouth piece.

All this removeable stuff could lead to proportional inaccuracies for one look or the other though - considering that in the movies the 2 looks were achieved entirely separate from each other much like how the Predator was done. When KPH was wearing the masked suit there wasn't really a Predator face underneath it. If there had been the mask would have stuck out a mile on the front.

I had enough of badly proportioned Robocop with their old figures.

Very true. Two separate heads are better than one with removable helmet. Trying to create a single head with removable helmet and neck cover would likely result in an oversized head, poor neck articulation, and we'd lose the interchangeable mouths (which is a feature I love).

One has to look no further than how much better the Predators got once Hot Toys stopped trying to make helmets that fit over the mandibles and instead made the mandible removable. Check out the attached images and one can clearly see the neck with the helmet off wouldn't actually fit under the black rubber neck with the mask on. Movie magic.

I won't lie, I think that the hot toys robocop toy in this pic looks awful, it looks so damn cheap and unimpressive.
I really don't know how you can look at that photo and come to those conclusions. I think he looks superb, and not one thing about him appears "cheap" to me. In terms of doing the source material justice, this to me is hands-down Hot Toys best figure revealed this year. If not for the person in the background behind him and the other toys he's standing alongside, I'd think that was actually Robocop standing there

In the other pics, I think it looks great. In this one, I don't really know what it is that makes it look god awful in my mind.

:exactly::goodpost:

I'd say it's the closest they've ever gotten to source material.

Saw it in person. I thought it looked great. However, a little different from the promo pics. Instead of being blue steel with those purplish bits, it was silver with very subtle purplish bits.
