For a serious list:

Draco (Dragonheart)
Aragorn (LotR)
Patrick Bateman (American Psycho)
Hans Landa (Inglourious Basterds)
Driver (Drive)
V (V for Vendetta)
Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace)
Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara)
Ripley (Alien franchise)
Tyler Durden (Fight Club)

I know it's people favorites and all that, but there's far too many Tony Stark's and Bale's Batman for an "all time" list. They're too damn recent.

Why should that matter? If someone enjoys them more than older characters, than that's their opinion. My favorite film ever is "Inception." Is that not allowed because it's too recent? It's the one I enjoy watching, rewatching, and discussing the most. It's recent release should have no effect on my opinion.

Besides, your argument makes little sense to me. Bale's Batman has been around now for 8 years. Stark Has been around for 5. They've both appeared in multiple movies and have had their chance to establish themselves in pop-culture more so than a lot of classic icons of the '80s who all appeared only in one loud and explosive movie with little character development or plot....

I am having trouble making a list of ten. Not because I have too many, but because I can't think of 10 characters I'd identify as my all-time favorites. Here's me trying in no particular order:

Indiana Jones
Han Solo
Darth Vader
Maximus
Leon
James Bond (Daniel Craig)
Jason Bourne
Captain Jack Sparrow?
Rick O'Connell?
Luke Skywalker?

I really couldn't tell you if those last three are deserving of this list but they're the first three characters that popped into my mind. If I were to include TV show characters, I'd swap them out with the following:

Dexter
Xena
Michael Westen

Out of all the stories and films out there, Incraption is your absolute favorite.

Wut? I wanna know your personal reasoning for it. What does it do for you? Nobody has a favorite, not for long any way.

I have a tough time choosing 10 great characters as my favorites, can't imagine choosing an all time favorite film. Not with the selection out there.

This is tough.

In no particular order:

Bale Batman/Bruce
Ledger Joker
Michael Corleone
Vito Corleone (both DeNiro and Brando)
Maverick
Aragorn
Terminator
Maria (Sound of Music)
Maximus
The Man with No Name

Definitely one of my top 10 favourite films.

And uv coarse people have favourites, some people have long term favourites and others have favourites that keep changing. I tend to have long term favourites in everything.

Films, Music, Books...etc

You're right in that our favorite films constantly are changing. But at this current moment, I would isolate "Inception" as being my favorite. I like the intricacy of the script and the ambiguous ending. I like that no matter how many times I watch it, all the theories for what happens actually hold water and the viewer can decide what happened. I liked the action, the special effects, the simplicity of Cobb's motives and desire to be with his children, I liked all of the actors' performances in it, I like the soundtrack, I liked my first experience watching it with close to no knowledge about what it would be about and whether or not it could live up to the high expectations I had for it coming off of "The Dark Knight," etc. Most of all I like the discussions it presented with me and friends after seeing it.

Before it was "Inception," it was "Batman Begins." Before that, it was "The Empire Strikes Back." Before that it was "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." Before that it was "Batman (89)." Those are the only movies I've ever claimed to be my favorite movie. Would all those films still be on my top 100 list? Probably. Would they all be close to number one? BB and ESB are. Last Crusade and B89 have fallen a long way down as the years have gone by and my tastes have changed and I've seen new things.

And in all honesty, I think making a top 10 list would be much harder for me than definitively choosing a single one. If I had to pick ONE favorite character, I'd probably go with Indiana Jones. I listed those characters as I thought of them. And honestly, I can't believe I left off Ledger's Joker. I'd slap him into my list and drop Luke Skywalker I guess.

All time Favs in No order

Indiana Jones
Conan the Barbarian
Chief Brody
Frank Cross (Scrooged)
John McClain
John Rambo
R2-D2
Martin Riggs
Dirty Harry
James Bond

Quint and Hooper could be there also but I wanted to keep it interesting.

Darth Vader would have been on here 20 years ago but that was before the prequals and I found out what a ***** he was :)

First off let me say that Inception is not a fav of mine. I need to watch it again but I was not taken over by it like so many others were.

Having said that I can't see dumping on someones opinion on what there fav film is.

Chill pill my friend.

Princess Leia
Marion Ravenwood
Honey Ryder
Dorothy Gale
Holly Golightly
Hermione Granger
Erin Brockovich
Beatrix Kiddo
Han Solo
