WOW, its wierd I was just thinking to myself the other day , why are all the LS Busts bad guys??
Gandalf looks awesome so far.The detail in only the small piece we can see looks stunning.
Despite this Im a bit on the fence as I do not know how I would/could be able to display this thing if I got it. Plus the price would be a factor.
I am oh so very tempted though as its such a charismatic and awesome character.

I dunno.......

I'm curious WoS, do you have pics of your LS series? I for one can't figure out how to display such big monstrosities which is why I've stayed out of purchasing big busts such as this.

I only have the ML bust and he is displayed in the corner of my tv room on his own I don't own the others but I think that these are so good that they should be displayed on their own and not together on a shelf (STRONG SHELF!!)
I won't be displaying him alongside GTG LS when it comes out he deserves his own corner!!!:D

I think for the exclusive the hat comes off and it can be used as a cookie jar.

:lol

The exclusive version comes with a sneak peek of the GTW P.F.

This looks like another pretty nice LS Bust. But, I got out of this line months ago and haven't looked back. Pass for me.

A big bust of an istari, thats not cool, im not collecting anymore the lines of LOTR but that bust its a waste why not a PF or a 1/6 figure.....

I don't collect the Legendary Scale Busts, so it's an easy pass for me.

Ditto... due to price and size factors, not everyone collects this line and i'm one of those who don't. Good for those who do collect though, been a while since an announcement (other than GTW PF). Hope it turns out great!

I believe the main reason is that they are much easier to sculpt. No human facial likeness problem to worry about. With Sauron and ML, the head is basically a helm and can't go much wrong from there. :)

That's exactly where they DID go wrong for me. Both of those "busts" are nothing more than glorified helms. Since I am not a helm collector, they therefore had zero interest for me.

But Gandalf the Grey, on the other hand, has always been my favorite character from the story, and this bust looks like it may have captured him very well.

I don't collect the LS line but that sneak at GTG looks very tempting. Not only am I a big Gandalf fan but I'm also an Ian fan so this just makes it hard. Just have to keep reminding myself that I already have the SS/W version and should not spend hundreds on another bust.

Hiya

That is very true, they are more like helm pieces im suppose except for the
Cavetroll, but then he's a beastie so will again be easier to sculpt.

As others have said, depending on the final picture and price this may be the one and only LS that I get. Unless they also produced the Hobbits, they would be hard for me to pass up too.
x:D

Gandalf the Grey.......................are we not up to saturation point ???????????????????

Whilst I am sure this is an excellent sculpt and the exclusive will be very tempting (even for me) I am frankly fed up with GTG.

Give me soemthinging else. I want smaller pieces that fit in with the Sideswhow Weta pieces (i.e. Gentle Giant mini busts) that don't cost the earth and dont take up my whole living room.

Fed up!!!!

I had them like this, now they are on separate pedestals.

Only LS Bust I bought was the ML and CT. I really don't see why they felt the need to do a Gandalf bust in LS size. The character has been done to death, and I see SS giving these away, or at least major price cuts.

Fell Beast please :monkey3

Just imagine it right next to the ML in Vince's pic. :)

I think Gandalf deserves a Legendary Scale workover given his importance to Tolkien's masterpiece. I think if anything the edition size may be set low but the owners of this bust will be VERY happy indeed, I'll be one of them for sure!

I agree with what you said, but I would have rather had him in PF...which we will probably get, and 12'. So do we really need him as a LS Bust as well? I hope they don't screw up the face/likness on the bust.

Likewise Cloud I agree with you too, a PF would be amazing but given the GTW is coming in that format it will probably be a while yet but I do think from the "humans" in the Trilogy I think Gandalf is one of the best to do in LS scale and as you rightly say, they better not screw up the face/likeness!!! I don't want to think about that!!!
