Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

I think no matter who is invovled with the Justice League movie, it will fail miserably without out them setting up the characters first like Marvel. Doing it backwards will only fail. Marvel did it right and it paid off hugely. WB/DC need to realize that this is a very long process that will take years to develop if they want the same success Marvel got with the Avengers.

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

Superman (a body builder who allergic to greens and wants to stop crime)

Wonderwomen ( an attorney that wears braclets for good luck)

Batman (see BB and TDk)

Flash (a brazilain runner)

Martain manhunter (An illegal immagrant with a skin condition, whos also a bounty hunter.)

Ah realism.

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

I'd laugh if the director turns out to be Joss Whedon.

Honestly though, I think someone other than Christopher Nolan should direct it. His style of directing wouldn't work IMO

Except for Batman, you realize that this interpretation would drastically de-power each of these characters, as well as completely skew their origins, right?

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

Meh i couldn't think of anything funny for batman. He's to awesome.

My god... let's hope not.

Batman's a brooding crybaby who takes his ball and goes home for 8 years after getting his ass kicked by a brawny little bully. :huh

Way to go... you've won the prize of the day. :thud:

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

They should skip the Batman reboot and go straight to a JLA film with Bale. Realism be damned.

I agree. They've really got lightning in a bottle with the Nolanverse Bale Batman. Why throw it all away with the hope of lightning striking again with a different actor? Bale is the RDJ of DC right now and people (ie the masses) equate his Batman with quality. If he appeared in the trailer for The Justice League it'd be a guaranteed smash. They've spent the last seven years entrenching his fanbase, it'd be crazy to start all over when the iron is still so hot.

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

I don't think nolan would be a good choice for justice league. It would need to be a bit more colorful then the sort of work he has done.

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

I love Christopher Nolan but I want TDKR to be the last DC property he directs. I want to see more original films from him. I know there seems to be a lot of hate for "Inception" around these parts, but I personally loved it. I also love his other work (except for "Insomnia" which he only directed but didn't write). I want more!

Let someone else direct Batman and JLA. And as stated by others, his style wouldn't fit what JLA should end up looking like and I would like a new take on Batman in the reboot.

I tend to agree - i'd like to see what else he does. Inception, Memento, The Prestige, BB and TDK are all in my top 20 or so films of all time.

I think if anything, Nolan will be a producer on JLA as he is on MoS and on the Batman reboot. Giving input into the development and stories but not directing and not in ultimate control.

That being said - I will never say no to a Chris Nolan JLA film :lol

:hi5: :1-1:

I just can't get excited for JLA. I'm a Batman fan, not a DC fan. I would readily admit I like the Marvel movies more than any other DC film I've seen. I'm not a comic reader, but Marvel's characters seem more interesting overall than DC's.

That said... If C. Nolan really wanted to direct a JLA movie, I would be very interested in seeing it. Not excited, per se, but definitely curious enough to go opening night :lol

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

Please no, no one wants a gritty JLA.

I bet this rumour is bollocks, riding on the hype of wonderman Wheeon and Avengers, DC fanboys are trying to cook up their own allstar team

I agree, his work on Batman is too dark for a Justice League movie. A big problem I forsee if a villan. If they use Darkseid will people complain that the plot is too similar to Avengers? I think a Darkseid invasion would be great to see. Who else could they use for a JL movie? Braniac maybe?

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

I would like to see Dini and Timm write and develop the JLA film. Whoever they pick to direct would have my thumbs up.

Re: Christopher Nolan's Justice League?

Even if it is true, don't really see how this can be seen as a desperate move though, just business. Marvel has had success great with Avengers, so what if DC responds in kind, these companies borrow each other's formulas all the time. Besides, the comic Avengers came after the formation of the JLA. Blockbuster theatrical superhero movies? Yup, DC did it first too.

It's seen as desperate because Warner Bros publicly said that a film like The Avengers would never work back in 2008. Even as recently as 2011:

2011 said:
Dark Knight and Superman producer Charles Roven tells Shock Till You Drop. When asked if the two bigscreen superheroes might inhabit a “shared universe,” Avengers style, Roven says directly, “Right now the Batman lives in his world and the Superman lives in his world. Those stories are those stories and we haven’t thought beyond each individual picture.” First, I love the fact that Roven adds “the” before both of their names. Second, this is great news. It’s a known fact that adding multiple superheroes into a single movie can be ruinous — call it the Batman & Robin rule. (Yes, okay, X2 was great, but there’s an easy counterargument, and it’s called X3.)

Many in that business said Marvel Studios was ridiculous for even trying. Now they are backpedaling because The Avengers not only worked but owned.

But I digress. If it is true, I'm going to refrain from judgement on this until I see what direction the WB is going with this. If it's a new universe, or one based on MoS as the jump-off point, like void's outline, fine. I maintain that it shouldn't be within the Nolan/Bale Batman universe, and besides, both of them have confirmed TDKR is the fullstop on this version of the character.

Nolan/Bale's Batman will not have any tie to this, everyone involved has already confirmed and said that the Batman 2014 reboot would be a JLA's Batman.

It's not impossible to go backwards but definitely more difficult. WB/DC won't wait another five to six years to strike the JLA iron, if they do it it'll be in the next couple I'm sure because the Avengers sequel will be out by 2015 and I'm sure WB wants something out before then if at all possible.

Geoff Johns was asked recently if they were doing something and all of a sudden is being all coy about it. Something is going on but who knows to what end. It'll all be rumors and speculation for a while and the less WB/DC talks about it, the more it's going on. Before they were quick to either acknowledge or discredit something like this.

Who says a Nolan JLA film has to be a gritty take on it?

Inception isn't gritty :dunno

Also, he co-wrote Man of Steel, I guess we shall see next year whether his Superman is too gritty for people's tastes.
