Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

I actually enjoyed the GL movie so I'm bummed we won't see a figure. I can only hope that there's a small chance a sequel will be made. But who knows.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

I bet if the sequel gets Green-lit, Hot Toys will announce something in the works super fast.

I don't. In fact I am more on the side that if something gets "greenlit" for GL whether it be a sequel or a reboot that they'll hang back until they see everything.

People have to understand that the aestethics is what pissed HT off, the basic engineering of the figure that couldn't get done and look the way they wanted. They aren't going to simply announce another license and go through that again. If they were that gung-ho about it, they'd still be making this.

If WB goes actual suit next in whatever incarnation and it seems more up HT's alley they'll do it, if its the same suit just a different spin or even something remotely similar HT won't flinch unless it's a blockbuster to which I don't think HT could avoid not hitting that cash pinata.

Way too many if/thens for the next GL installment to guarantee figures of any kind, their base problem hasn't been solved.

Plus with a full schedule and Deadpool finally announced for 2014, any potential sequel will be quite a ways off anyway. :(

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

darthviper makes a compelling argument. Maybe we should close threads like this one and the ones in Whedonville. I mean, if a license or TV show is no more, then what's actually useful?

I think another GL film (which I don't imagine would happen) would benefit from a complete reboot. New GL included.

____, why stop there? Shut down anything that has to do with 80's nostalgia, The Star Wars films are all done so shut down everything that isn't the Clone Wars series, same with Indy - he's old so shut down those boards, the Predator and Terminator franchises are dead so shut them down, Nolan's stint on Batman is over so shut everything to do with Nolan's Batman down, since horror is all remakes now with nothing original, shut down the horror boards too. :lecture:lecture:lecture

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Funny that Dave's currently making the same point about Whedonville. :dunno

He never said that at all

EDIT:

My point isn't to shut down stuff that's old, it's to shut down stuff that can't serve any purpose. There is no Hot Toys Green Lantern figure, no need for any more discussion on it because there's literally nothing that anyone can add to it.

But, what's left?:monkey2

Man makes a good point. . .

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Most threads these days have nothing to say, I'd say there's probably more useful threads in Whedonville than in DC or Marvel.

The point of closing this thread is that there's nothing more to say, so people adding useless posts to it instead just serves to bump the thread which can push down other threads that actually have something. In that case, it is actually doing harm (wasting space)

Right. The difference between this thread and, say, the Wheedon ones is that the Wheedon threads are a catchall for anything being done with his 4 tv shows and 2 films and other projects, and that's ongoing. This thread is specifically aimed at one line of products that we now know will never get made. Either change it to a general GL thread and keep it open, or close it and move on.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Some people seem to be obsessed with whether or not this thread should be closed. Maybe you guys should start your own thread.

Then we can have one for discussing the announced and subsequently cancelled HT figure and another for weighing in on whether the former should be closed.

All they have to do is stop posting

This is a discussion forum. ATM, there is a discussion in this thread on said discussion forum about the speculation surrounding HT canceling this license. There's a purpose being served here in this thread. Some people are venting, some people are debating whether or not it was the movie or lazy R&D and some are waiting to hear something official given the only evidence to support HT dropping the line has come from Asian forums where I'm sure there are trolling trolls who hate the license and want to see it gone (just like here). Looks like it's also giving you the excuse to troll this thread because you don't like the license (because there's been no official source for this statement to lend it even the slightest bit of credibility), so there's that too. :huh

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

Maybe Deadpool figure :dunno

:lol Guess if this turns out to be true and this is the very first time HT's announced a license but dropped it, we won't know until a preorder pops up for Mr. Wilson. :lol

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

There's no purpose to vent or discuss why it was canceled it will mean nothing, no amount of discussion will give answers.

Seems like some people just can't let go even when there's nothing to hold on to.

Re: Hot Toys Green Lantern - Official License Announcement

I still don't get the problem with leaving the thread open.

The best idea i've read so far is to make it a general GL thread / GL 1/6 figure thread. Maybe we should do that

That is a good idea. Another good idea is for people who don't want this thread open TO NOT READ THIS THREAD. Maybe someone should tell him that a thread doesn't have to be closed for him to ignor it. HE COULD JUST IGNOR IT!:slap

What's there to discuss in Whedonville then, since his shows always get canceled?

I could create a thread here saying:

"Sideshow's Creative Director, Tom Gilliland says Sideshow has canceled the DC license due to development difficulties in designing the many 1/6 scale figure bodies!"

Create it right here in the DC boards and it'd essentially be the same thing you're basing your argument off of. At this point, nothing official has been provided to back this claim, only posts from random members on Asian toy forums. :lol

But I still counter that everything you're trolling here perfectly applies to the entire Whedonville subforum. :huh
