Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

What a ****ing arsehole. And you can't so much as give him a negative feedback.

Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

Didn't someone have a neat little trick for dealing with this type of return scam?

I forget what it was but they were able to get their money back fighting fire with fire.

Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

I'm honestly thinking the op needs to talk to an attorney and file a civil action lawsuit against eBay if they rule in buyer's favor. This is an obvious scam that has happened more than once. If they file in the buyer's favor I wouldn't even go after the buyer anymore. I'd go straight after eBay. They make their money off of the sellers but don't want to have our backs. Something needs to be done or nothings going to change. If I was you I'd go to small claims court and file aginst ebay.

Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

Id contact the local police dept and see if they can be of any help....eBay needs to fix/address their policies as well.

Sorry to hear your going through this, please keep us updated.

I agree with you. I think ebay needs to implement the idea I stated above. When a buyer wishes to return an item to a seller the buyer should be forced to have the item inspected by a postal worker before it is shipped in order to get the refund. The postal worker could make a brief inquiry onto what the item is and this inquiry would protect buyers from most scams (I'm certain it wouldn't protect all scenarios, Scammers gonna Scam). I think it is our responsibility as sellers though to start taking action and filing claims against ebay for not taking standard precautions to protect us.

Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

Again- a sad story but getting more typical with Ebay. You , as a seller, have next to NO rights at all. You can send a pefect mint sealed figure and the scam buyer can say ITEM NOT DESCRIBED or missing or broken and you have lost your money. Unbelievable. It happened to me and they are doing this alot with high end items like HT.
I quit Ebay- I'm done.

Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

I'm serious all of you collectors who have been scammed in this way need to communicate with each other especially for those of you with transactions that involve more than $300 in merchandise being stollen (actually the amount of $ involved doesn't really matter) and it sounds like there is alot of you out there. Separate your cases seem to petty to get any real progress done, but together y'all could really get something done. I mean come on I know it's worth a try. I am just as disgusted by this stuff as all of you guys and it's hasn't even happened to me...(yet).

Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

Perhaps people should now add 'Any returned items will be filmed, opened and inspected in front of delivery man' after the 'Returns Accepted' bit.

That's a GREAT idea. I don't usually accept returns, but it's good to keep that in mind.

I've heard that its best to accept returns - its not going to stop ebay favouring your buyer and forcing you to refund - and then your buyer still keeps your item. Now as it happens that has ended up being the case anyway for the OP.

Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

When i first saw this thread i thought poor guy and sympathised. Whats the chances that i am in a similar situation now because of some ****** on ebay.

Hes made up about 5 things wrong with the item that are total lies and refuses to return it and yet still wants a full refund. I have said i will refund if he returns the item. Then he said he does not need to send the item because i breached ebay policies about description (which he is making up to get a refund ). Id love to start a service where you can bid on auctions to pay a guy to go around to a knobheads house and deck him.

I've been selling on Ebay for a few years now, and so far, I haven't had a single problem with any buyer. I guess that I've just been fortunate to deal with honest people. But, yeah, there are some real scum bags out there. I've got a bunch of people added to my block list now, thanks to this thread :lol.

I think you mean a hit man...:lol just with out the killing part right (wink wink). In reality though as much as I despise these @$$ holes, ebay is really the party most responsible for not taking standard precautions to protect sellers.

Re: Moronic eBay Buyer! Joker DX 01 Horror Story

I just won't sell on ebay full stop. I've gotten as far as the listing forms, but it all looks like too much hassle. Then the ebay and paypal fees and the potential to get royally ****ed over by someone and by ebay....just all very off-putting.

At least here your prospective buyer has to contact you to buy your item and you can try and extract an impression of them right away before any money or item changes hands. You can view their feedback, their postcount and actually look at their posting history to get an idea of what they're like and you can choose to ignore them if something sets off your spider sense. On ebay you're forced to deal with whoever clicks 'Buy Now' and that person may be a totally unscrupulous scumbag.

I don't know how ebay is still around. If sellers aren't protected, they won't want to sell there and if ebay doesn't have any sellers, they don't function. :dunno

It's mainly because this problem hits people selling high end collectibles the hardest and ebay is the only 'easy' method for people to sell these items.

He wants a full refund and expects to keep the item because i " miss represented its condition (total lie) ". The item in question is a laptop. We got 2 for christmas and we only needed 1 so we sold it on ebay. It was used about 2 times max very minimally. But he has told ebay it is referbished, covered in scracthes, does not go online and i rigged the bidding to get my friends to bid up at the end to get the auction up. And the killer is he won it for £27. It was brand new and only opened at christmas. He won it for a ripoff price and still wants it for free.

I have so much lack of faith in ebay im already resigned to the fact ive lost it.
