I do agree with what is being said about the drawbacks of the dwarf, but it is by no means a deal breaker for me. While I do think the Dwarf is well done it is also the only negative that I have with the statue do to the fact that it will not display well with the maquettes. If the dwarf was not present the troll could be displayed with the maquettes (not in correct scale or context but still very large and imposing nonetheless). I am still really looking forward to this guy and have no problem just displaying him alone. :rock

...........and I can't wait for SSC to announce the edition size as 50 pieces worldwide and just stand back and watch the mad scramble to the Snow Troll bandwagon. :wink1:

I don't think anybody disagrees with that. I think what they are trying to say is by not having the dwarf in his hand, it wouldn't be so apparent in how out of scale this troll is to the rest of the maquettes. Just the troll by itself would display better as opposed to the troll w/ dwarf in his hand.

The Troll is no less or more apparent than the Cave Troll was 10 years ago or the Battle Troll being smaller than in the same time period. It's really one of those different strokes for different folks type things. I really think it looks pretty damn cool holding it but I agree he would have looked cool without it. I felt the same way several years ago when the Battle Troll came out (just wanted the Troll to be bigger).

In some ways I think this topic is funny because 10 years ago when the original Cave Troll came out I don't recall the scale being a big deal. These type of discussions and what I consider odd complaints show that this is like dog years and I'm old as hell. :lol

LOL, too funny! BTW, I watched your video review of Aragorn yesterday! He looks awesome. I want the EX, but I may just wait until Sideshow has the regular in stock again in January and get him from them. While I love the EX head, I don't think it's worth paying the extra $100+ on eBay. Would you agree?

Yeah, its one of those I'm not old but I sure as hell feel it at times when talking about collecting. :lol Thank you! :) :duff He's great statue Trev did an amazing job on Aragorn. There is nothing wrong with getting the regular displaying it that way would be fantastic as well. He's going of $100 more than retail? I haven't checked but thats a good sign for things. Well, I once paid $2200 for the Original Balrog so that isn't as much over retail and I do think the Ex is worth it. I personally would go for it but you're not losing by going for the reg.

If i had the option to display this WITHOUT the dwarf, I'd love it a LOT more.

My 2 cents on aragorn having had and returned the ex - go for the ex. The unhooded head really looks great IMO.

the dwarf is the cool part of the statue, it gives a sense of scale to how big the troll really is. Why you guys hate dwarfs???

scale is never an issue with this statue, it's like saying rivendell or orthanc pieces arent to scale....

only thing crappy about it is they still havent announced ES. w t f? :dunno

Well, the only ones I ever see on eBay are BINs for $350, which is a lot more than the $225 I can get for the regular through Sideshow in January. He probably goes for less in auction, but I never really see any EXs at auction.

That's not a bad price really. Its a truly exceptional statue so I'd say go for it if you're really wanting the Ex.

Why January? Is there a sale coming up or something, gift card status?

I do see the occasional ex, keep your eyes peeled and one may pop up.

The regular is "backordered" through Sideshow, and they said they're to receive the second half of their shipment in January.

so it looks like the ES was just capped at 500 pieces. Will this bring the cancellations in or will it bring in sighs of relief for those that have this on PO?

That's a good ES for this piece. As I've said before I think this piece kicks ass and am glad to have it on order. If I remember I found on eBay the little snow troll that was done for the game. I had to get it on eBay as the edition and place I got my copy didn't have one.

500 ES isn't that bad. Now that it has been set it may get more people to pull the trigger.

It looks like the big guy's been delayed a bit though, I got this email from SS last night:

New Schedule for Remaining Payments

5/15/2012 $81.25

6/15/2012 $81.25

7/15/2012 $81.25

8/15/2012 $81.24

As much as I want this, I really don't mind the delay. It will hopefully give me a chance to catch up on the Maquette line.

Well, as of last night it was showing q2 so that would cover April-June. So it could be pushed back a couple months isn't much of a delay and like some items that have been pushed back could move back up.
