Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Voted for Last Centurion Rory!
Civilian clothes are just boring and if the centurion outfit is done well enough, you can guarantee interest from outside of Who fans and increased sales.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I voted for civilian Rory. I wouldn't mind Roman Rory if he came with an interchangeable hand and civies extra, of course.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Rory poll aside the first figure you make surely must be the 11th Doctor ..right?:dunno

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I decommissioned my long standing WIP 11th Doc in the assumption that 11 is the first release.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I only needed a head sculpt. Clonobi Wan was the stand in head. :lol

A hard bash i would think, i looked on the bay a few times for clothing that might work, nothing really looked like it would have worked well enough, i couldn't be happier with this line announcement!:)

Really hope they make the 10th Doctor!

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I think at least 11, 10 and 4 would be shoe ins.

The 11th Doctor & Amy are the first 2 releases in the 1:6 line.

After that it looks like being Rory & River bloody Song....sucks to be a Classic era fan right now.

:goodpost: Yea I had such high hopes for CO Classic line but they just don't seem to want to do anything from the 1st or 2nd Doctors era

Compared to other decades there's certainly not been much aside from the token Daleks and Cybermen and an Ice Warrior which is disappointing but there should be at least 1 more figure from the Troughton era to look forward to,

There's also rumors of an Emperor Dalek being released which have been lent some credence by this image,

That was found on an ebay auction by an Australian seller who's often had figures many months before they were released officially.

As far as the Big Chief line goes I can understand why the current series is being focused on initially as that's what's freshest in terms of mainstream recognition and therefore most likely to get sales from casual 1:6 collectors as well as dedicated Who fans but I would still prefer it if 11 & Amy got released, then 2 Classic characters, then Rory & River, then 2 more Classics etc etc as that way there'd be a nice balance between the two.

Maybe for baddies that have appeared in both eras they could release 1 from each as a sort of "Now & Then" or "Evolution" kind of gimmick...Autons would be a good start as they appeared in the first ever story in color and the first modern story in 2005.

When it comes to baddies that can't be made using a standard 1:6 body as a base I'm not expecting any era to get much aside from the inevitable Daleks because of cost issues.....large scale molds with minimal reuse potential will be a risky prospect but maybe if the line does well enough with the initial few releases BC will be able to do one or two baddies ideally ones that CO haven't yet made such as a Quark.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Let's hope the sales of this first wave of nu-series figures puts plenty in BC's purse to make lots of classics!

Still, the pricepoint will be a major factor.
I think most Doctor fans don't want to just see their figures but like to open, pose and dare I say, play with them.

The guys on drwhofigures seem to think it was a custom...I hope it's not!

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

I'd love a Nu-who John Simm Master! ..hell he could be a cheap one given that he's pretty much a guy in a suit.

Sorry guys i promise i will try and watch the Classics sometime:peace

It wasn't a custom. I have seen pics from the guy who bought it off f ebay. It is the real deal.

Yeah, price point's the key. Under $100, and I think there's a shot the line could run at least long enough to get some classic era releases. Over $100, and I think it'll be a tough sell outside of Tom Baker, David Tennant and maybe Matt Smith.

These wouldn't need to be heavily accessorized, but most of the aliens will require some kind of specialty body part aside from the heads.

These shouldn't be toy-like as the CO one's were - but if there was some incentive to get the secondary figures - like a build-a-environment piece with each figure and you have to get all the figs to build the Tardis console (or even the box itself) - that might help incentivize to buy them and make them worth the higher cost.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 announcement!

Yes, build-a-parts would be a GREAT way to go. :clap
