:exactly::goodpost: And to say this is a simplistic sculpt is naive at best.:slap This is a 'tour de force' of design! Streamlined, massive, & deadly. No frills needed.:yess::yess::yess:

It's a very well done if not perfect sculpt of a very simplistic Character design, which is not the same thing as a simplistic sculpt. Is it really neat looking? Absolutely. Many of the neatest looking, best looking designs are simple, like the 4 sided pyramid. It's simplicity does not take away from how neat it is to look at. However, just because a simple design or sculpt in this case is neat looking or is neater looking than a more complex design does not justify charging as much money for it as you would charge for a much more complex, ornate design. More complex designs require a lot more effort to make than simpler ones and therefore justify charging higher prices. More colors, more shading, more lines to get perfect, more texture to get perfect, like that on skin or fabric is a LOT more work to make, and make to look best. If you ever made a larger piece and a piece 1/3 it's size but with 6 times the complexity, you would know that the smaller more complex piece requires more artisan-ship. Since SS has been having trouble painting things properly in the last years or two, perhaps it is a good thing that this piece is so simple, so hopefully there will be fewer flaws, however at the same time, it should be cheaper. Less labor+ same cost = much greater profit for SS on this.

Hey man, I would have loved to pay less for this bad boy. And I cringed when posters were speculating on price, & actually giving Sideshow a heads-up on what they were willing to pay (which in some cases was higher than the $500.00(!), before the price was even announced!!!??? Unfriggin believable!!!!!!:slap:slap:slap

As collectors we should never, never, never, show are hand. Hopefully, this lesson was learned, for the benefit of us all, for ALL future releases.............................Still a kicka$$ piece though.

Sideshow and these companies have the price determined well before we ever see something.

I got a Thor (Reg Ed) as I am not interested in the print.
Also, This is the first Marvel statue that I have ever ordered!

If you honestly think that by the time they show a piece there isn't a price already set by Sideshow then you are fooling yourself. People could have said they'd pay $1000 easily for Destroyer and the price would already be set at what it is, they could have said I will only pay $200 and the price would already be set at what it is.

Sideshow isn't monitoring these boards and rubbing their hands together trying to figure out how much to milk us for. I would argue that in recent times they probably aren't paying too much attention to these boards at all outside of their event periods and that the few employees who are here regularly would be here regardless of who they worked for.

I have been getting the LOTR PF's but I am thinking on thinning them to only the main fellowship. That is why I have not ordered the ML or the newest Orc. Thinking on selling my Moria Orc(reg), Berserker(ex), Galadriel, and Gandalf the White(ex). :dunno

I love my Capt Jack(ex), Indy(reg), and Rocketeer(ex). I think that I may start to try and collect one character per movie. Depending on who it is, pose, etc.. I can't afford them all but that will not stop me from trying. :wink1:

I would love to have an Iron Man Maquette in my collection

:wave dtssyst! Haven't read you for a loooooong time. Hope you are doing well. Glad you are ordering this fine piece of statuary. Your avatar smells like beer, dogs and generic nicorette. :)

I understand what you are saying about simplistic designs, yet I think the design of this Destroyer is rather detailed in other ways besides skin and cloth texturing. The lines are sharp and perfect as they wind elegantly and naturally, yet mechanically around the anatomy of the character. I think they alone defy any claim of a simplistic design. Also, I see more than only two colors represented in this piece. The base has several colors to achieve the natural look of rock and the character Destroyer's armor is known to be made of only one material which is only one color, and in the case of this particular statue has another color added as a wash to fill in the recessed details of his armor. I think if War Machine and Iron Man were priced as they were (which honestly was a bit high, IMO), then Destroyer is worth every penny as much as them.

And I am sorry, Blackthornone, but to compare the design of this piece to a simple pyramid on any level is... well, it's just damn questionable. That's all.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :horror
Of course the Moria Orc EX is way cooler, so I guess I understand that one. :D

Barb,
:wave

Been busy with the wifes breast cancer last year.

Now I am currently building two Anigrand Star Destroyers (commissions).

I also read a lot in the many forums online. I only seem to post here on SSC when I order or get something that I really like.

I really like the Thor PF :clap
