Agreed, it's a great day for both maquette and PF collectors alike. :clap

Yes...yes...yes...yes...yes! :fireworks

It's not good news...it's fantastic news! :yess:

Can I stop sending in the requests for the 9 in PF now?

Yes, Bill. I believe you can ease off on the emails now. :lol

Unless of course the first two that are released just don't sell, in which case much like the past, don't expect to see the others. And, if the statues don't sell, then what do you think are the chances that the PF's will be made.

Sorry for the little dose of reality.

It's O.K Guru, a fools hope can take people a long way sometimes and I will take all the 'possibly' 'maybe's' from SS as opposed to the silence that up until recently, was deafening. I will not diminish yet and keep requesting :lecture

Bring on the Hobbits and Boromir and Gimli (in PF form)

You are so right Guru.

This is but just the start of the 9 in PF quest. Next step will be to put our money where our mouth is.
As you say 'if the statues don't sell, then what do you think are the chances that the PF's will be made'
And if the first of the Hobbit PFs don't sell then that will be that, I'm afraid.

So it will be up to us, as SS look as though they are going to do their bit.

:lol This coming from the guy whose questioned the need, viability, and character selections for the maquette line since Day 1. And who can forget your classic " I hate to tell you so" posts when you declared this line dead and buried after seeing one Aragorn preview pic. Now personally I've never understood that "I hate to tell you so" phrase because people who use it are actually revelling in the idea that they've been proven right....and they want everyone to know it. How'd that work out for you?

I hate to tell you so :monkey3, but how's this for a " little dose of reality".....your LOTR maquette predictions to date are sitting at a whooping 0%! :cuckoo: Now most people who have been wrong as much as you have, eventually figure out it might be best not to say anything at all, but you keep "crying wolf" if it makes you feel better. Who knows, based on the Law of Averages, eventually one of your dire predictions might even come true. :lecture

You hardly post at all in the last bit where the maquette line has shown its got some serious legs and this is one of your first posts in a while. Just trying to piss all over the good momentum we got because you're a little butthurt over something that I'm not totally sure of. It almost comes across that you want all LOTR lines from SS to fail because Weta isn't doing them.

:goodpost: Exactly Josh! This guy hasn't posted more than a 1/2 dozen times in the LOTR section in the past 6+ month's and when he has posted, the comments have been negative.

Where was this guy when SS posted the awesome 12 Days of Christmas maquette group shot that finally launched this line? Other than voicing concern over Arwen's likeness and taking a shot at Trevor, he had nothing to say. Same with the Legolas maquette pre-order and Gimli sneak peek.....not a word from him concerning those two other than a comment about Legolas' Galadhrim bow.

The truth is, this guy's had it in for the maquette line since Day 1 and the only reason he hasn't been around here is SS hasn't given him anything in the way of ammo for him to take his shots. I would disagree somewhat about you last comment though "It almost comes across that you want all LOTR lines from SS to fail because Weta isn't doing them" because there's no "almost" about it. This guy would like nothing more than for SS's LOTR lines to fail, if for no other reason than they aren't produced by Weta. I'm not sure if it's some kind petty jealousy, or what his problem is, but for him to infere he's a concerned SS LOTR collector is a joke...he's neither concerned, nor much of a LOTR collector as far as I'm concerned....unless the word 'Weta' is stamped on the bottom of the base.

Ah! come on guys, take it easy on the guy. I may not always agree with him, but I feel he has the right to voice his opinion.
What kind of a forum would it be if we all agreed with each other all of the time. Let him have his say, be it negative or positive.
We always have the right to reply. It's more fun that way, don't you think?

Bill

Pissing contests aside, I'm glad to hear that the other four will be done. If Sideshow has any heart, they put out a base that could hold all four around each other and give us the ultimate Hobbit display.

You're right Bill, he's certainly entitled to his opinion, as are the rest of us. But seeing as this guy has never supported the maquette line, or has much positive to say about it, my question is....why bother? Do you go around taking shots at licences or lines you don't collect? I'm pretty sure your answer is....no, just like most of us around here. So why does he feel the need to "rain on our parade" when the truth is he couldn't care less about this line, or SS's LOTR licence in general. We get it....he doesn't like the maquette line, never has......is there really anything more we need to know about his enlightened opinion?

This is really exciting news from SS!:hi5: To think that, within X period of time, we can look at our displays and see a full Fellowship!

There's something that I hope SS keeps in mind with this. They basically have 3 groups of customers out there - (A)those who will buy both MQ & PF (B)those who will buy only the PFs and (C)those who will buy only the maquettes. If they release a Merry/Pippin MQ and a large percentage of people opt to wait and see the PF first, that could leave an impression that isn't all that accurate.

(I personally know of 6 people who didn't order the Gandalf MQ because they were about to receive their PF.)

I still think that, once they give us Boromir, Gimli & Sam in PF, Merry & Pippin will become must-haves.

I couldn't agree more, and I have told SS that very thing myself. If SS produces PF's of Sam, Gimli, and Boromir [in no particular order] and rounds out the Fellowship with Merry, then Pippin....the lure of finally getting a complete Fellowship will be too much for most collectors to be able to resist, making Merry and Pippin 'must-haves'. :lecture
