What are the chances of a Hot Toys Nolan-verse Ra's Al Ghul?

I know there's no way in hell, especially with the reboot, but I would love an "Undone DC Villains" two-pack with a Neeson Ra's and Kevin Spacey Lex Luthor, just to give closure to the Batman Begins/Superman Returns lines.

Ugh. As a Batman collector, I would hate that. Different movies, different universes.

That'd be like pairing Ripley up with a Predator, just because both have interacted with the Alien at some point in their careers.

Re: Ra's Al Ghul....

As requested...

Here's Henri Ducard, a.k.a. R'as al Ghul in his ninja gear.

This one needs a bit of touching up with paint on the sword and a bit on the headsculpt. The whole figure, including the headsculpt, is one of Ironcrosshunter's figures. He still sells the unpainted headsculpt on Ebay.

The joints are really weak, so one of these days I'm going to have to disrobe him and tighten up the body. Until then, he's on the stand (the only one in my collection who really needs it!).

Here's R'as al Ghul, in his birthday party outfit:

The headsculpt is the more common Ra's headsculpt that shows up for sale from time to time. I think one of the members of these boards might have sculpted it, but since I bought it secondhand, I can't be sure which. It's more angular and stylized, and has an older, wearier expression.

The suit is all bashed by me - black coat, black shirt, black tie, black pants, black shoes. Notice a pattern?

I've been keeping an eye out for some super-dark green velvet from which to make his scarf, but it's tough finding a fabric that's dark enough (in the movie, it literally looks black unless you freeze frame it). I also have issues with velvet, so if I find some, that will be an additional challenge :rotfl

I've also got a mini jewel thing that might work to add to his tie - he looks like he's got some white jewel pin or something on his tie in the movie, but I need to double check.

I'm also working on the red ninja robes that Watanabe's R'as al Ghul wears, and a sculpt is on the way from an artist here. I've got all the fabric, just need to sew it together. So that'll be a third "R'as al Ghul," though in actuality it's a decoy!

If HT ever does release a R'as al Ghul, you can bet it'll be the black ninja gear outfit. It's much more visually interesting and unique. Plus, not only do they not like doing just normal, fancy suits, but they know they'll be able to sell more ninja gear sets because many will buy two in order to bash a Bruce Wayne ninja.

In fact, if we ever see any kind of release, I'd bet it'd just be Bruce in the ninja outfit. Then you've got the unique factor, plus a more iconic character, plus the opportunity to sell extras to those bashing custom R'as al Ghul's, PLUS no need to deal with likeness rights, since they already have Christian Bale's.

I mean, I'd love to see a release with a Bruce head, a Ra's head, a ninja outfit, and the black suit outfit, but it's just not going to happen. That's why I've got these customs.

Very cool customs man - i'm working on the training scene customs, here's what I have so far:

The Ra's outfit has been weathered by Seb, the head i'm awaiting from Les, it's the Susala sculpt.

The Bruce is an Alex Rojas custom but I want to upgrade the headsculpt and weather/dye the outfit to the correct colours, and move it to a TT body plus some other corrections.

Liam Neeson just seems to be one of those actors sculptors have trouble with. There are some that have been lifted by an excellent paint job (and others that have been made worse by a bad one) but I don't think there's any sculpt I've looked and and considered it a home run. Maybe it's for the best, then, that we haven't seen a HT Ra's.

As for Gordon, I dunno...I think sometimes the interviews that Hot Toys give contain a healthy amount of wishful planning/ideal world scenarios. We should also remember that we're dealing almost exclusively with articles that weren't written or conducted in English and that have been non-professionally translated. There are intricacies and nuances to language, and details around context that might not necessarily be captured (or even make their way into the original article) so I think a degree of healthy scepticism is always warranted.

Exactly. And there's no reason they couldn't have pursued a potential figure (like Gordon), and then later changed their mind before releasing it. There are plenty of potential reasons for such a scenario - maybe they ultimately decided Gordon wouldn't sell well (or as well as other alternatives they were also investigating or working on), or maybe a rights issue cropped up and was harder to deal with than they had anticipated.

I'd like to see Gordon, but the article that's oft-referred to only opens the door - it guarantees nothing.

Ok, I've been at it again!
Here's my new idea for a Hot Toys 'League of Shadows' 2 pack! :D

Hot Toys please take note!

Looks good, but remember, Ra's al Ghul's gauntlets had the same intricate pattern that the ninja gauntlets had (they weren't flat, like Batman's). They may even have been silvery, not black, but I'm not sure.

May I ask where you got the look of his feet from? Were they extrapolation, or do you have a source image? I've been trying to figure those out for my custom costume for a while, but can't find a source showing his feet...

^ Thanks! I know the gauntlets are supposed to be the same as the ones I drew for Ra's, but to be completely honest - I just really didn't want to spend the time doing it all since it took me aaaaages last time lol

As for decoy Ra's feet - I used these pics here for reference. They're the only ones I could find that clearly showed his footwear.
Hope they help for your custom!

Haha, I figured that might be it. Though you can always copy and paste, right?

Thanks, those are great! I've collected a whole bunch of images (and taken stills from the Blu-Ray), but somehow never fond these specific ones. They'll certainly be helpful.

I thought the Neeson Ras was great idea, both of them. If Hot Toys made either one or both, I'd definitely buy them. But no way in hell would I buy the "Wannabe" (lol) decoy Ras Al Ghul.

That's great work though SFA.

which is why HT won't do it. It's inception all over again.
I don't know about that. The issue with Inception wasn't just that the looks were boring, but that you didn't recognize the character right away. Leo in a suit could be his character from several movies. Neeson with that particular get-up, and more importantly, with that wacky facial hair, makes him recognizable as the character he played in Begins. The boringness factor might still be the trump card, but I don't know if the justification for Inception holds here precisely.

Thanks DiFabio :D
not sure I'd want to buy a decoy Ra's on it's own (unless they released Neeson Ra's first) but a 2 pack with Real/Decoy Ra's would be an instant purchase for me!

Hell, I'd buy two - use the extra ninja suit for a Bruce and the extra Neeson head for a birthday party scene.

I have no interest in the decoy Ra's, just Liam's. I'd prefer the final showdown outfit too but I'd take a ninja one if that's all they'd offer.

^ What can I say? I have the mad skillz!! :monkey5:lol
Seriously though, I could do a LOT better than that if I took the time, but I wanted to get a quick mock-up done to get my visual point across.
I just really want HT to make these figures

i think its highly unlikely we will get ra's al ghul. we got scarecrow but without a cillian murphy head probably to save money on likeness rights. i don't see hot toys paying to get liam neeson or ken watanabe's likeness when it probably wouldn't be a big enough seller for them :(
