Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

How old was Tobey during the first film? Andrew doesn't look any older now than Tobey did back then.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Tobey was 23 during filming the first one. Andrew Garfield will be 28 during filming....

23?! Seriously? I thought Tobey just looked really young for his age. Thought the dude was already in his late twenties back then.

Garfield really doesn't look too old. Oh well. I guess I won't miss the high school scenes.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

As I mentioned in the other thread, I loved the cartoon Spider-Man and he was in college in that so I think it'll be just fine.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Good news. We've been to HS already in the movies, Let's move on.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Indeed Peter being in collage doesn't bother me as long as he's allready Spider-Man. Also it makes me hope they add Black Cat in the movie!!!

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Just watched (500) days of summer 20min ago.... great movie. Marc Webb seems to be a great director. Gives me a good feeling about how the new Spidey may turn out.
If not at least his last name works in his favor.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

That's a good point, with Pete in college they could do Black Cat... I think that would be a pretty cool direction to go with the movie.

If they do put in Black Cat, I wonder who should play her? I originally liked Scarlett Johansson but she's now Black Widow so I guess we'd need someone else. I was thinking maybe Ali Larter.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I think the teenage angle will work well....The comics were all based on him having all the normal teenage stumbling blocks along with him trying to be a superhero - Tobey is what ......35? Not a believable high school/college student - 1 was good....2 was better IMO...and 3 ...I don't talk about that one - I think a new start will be good for the series and Marvel Studios is doing them from what Ive heard - glad to see Sony isn't making them this time around

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

looks like someone already commented on the age thing - I guess I'll just say that I didn't care for Tobey - if they do a quick flashback of Uncle Ben getting killed - that works for me - just keep the back story short and get into him kicking some tail

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

The more and more i hear about the movie the more i get excited. (reading the leaked script ideas, if they're real) They already consulted with Bendis so that's a plus. This could end up being the SM we all want. Or.............

I also expect a more funny SM this time.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Personally I don't even need a flashback to Uncle Ben's death. Everyone knows what happened to him and that it gave Parker a "Always do the right thing, even if its going to bite you in the ass" complex. :lol

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

i don't think they need to do the whole origins, and that way they save 1/2 a movie that can go towards some kick ass action and villians.

after all i think we all know how spidey came to be.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Not a fan of "Jughead" Andrew, but at least he respects his new role as Spidey and will hopefully do a great job.
Although, if the movie is patterned after the Bendis books, then I'll have to pass.

I loved Ult. SM and bought and read them all and thought it was very well written....i would have no prob with it being a "bendis" Spidey movie

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I really hope they do go through with changing it to College. HS problems just seems so petty and insignificant. In college you still deal with a lot of the HS crap like relationships and money problems, but at least you're closer to being a full fledged adult. Even doing it like in the Tobey Spidey would be okay since he was in HS for only the first half of the movie.

Thiers leaked scripts ?

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

Looks like they might as well make it a loose sequel/reboot like Batman Forever, The Incredible Hulk, Bond etc. Why reboot the series with a new actor who's almost as old as the previous one?

With a college-age Peter, they could just fudge a few details here and there like meeting MJ or Gwen Stacey and just continue with new adventures and villains. Might as well be a vague SM4 with new cast and look.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

The way Norton's Incredible Hulk handled the origin was fantastic, a quick refresher to remind the audience and then move forward. A lot of what I've read is going back to High School so its obviously no longer even an idea, Bendis was consulted on the character and direction heavily before casting and the decision to move forward with college, while I'm sure he'll be consulted again (he is viewed as the messiah at Marvel in terms of writing especially considering Spider-Man), we won't see too much Ultimate Spider-Man save maybe in spirit since that story relied a lot on Pete being in High School.
