Dachshunds are the best. With them the saying "we don't own them, they own us" is really true.

I had one, the best dog ever. One day I came home and found him dead, he had drown in my swimming pool. He loved drinking water from the pool, even though he had two water bowls. I assume he fell and couldn't come back up due to his itty bitty legs. That was an eye opener and made me put a fence around the pool.

Even though it has been a while back (09/08/2004) I still remember him every day and think about him and miss him. He was 9, we had him since he was a puppy.

I will post pictures of him shortly.

here's my bestest buddy, Shadow. he passed yesterday...

:monkey2 he was with us for 14+ wonderful years. the wife and i have no children, but he may as well have been one. he WAS our child.
the loss is tremendous but to make it worse, he used to be my Mom's dog and she recently passed away as well (cancer. why i haven't been around here much the past year & a half), and loosing him is like loosing the last bit of her i had left too. it's just killing me :monkey2

I'm so sorry. I know how that is. We had a dog that was my dad's best bud and when my father died, Shelby went into a depression. He lived for 5 more years but when he was very sick, he'd lay out by our garage, aka, work room where my dad spent most of the day. It was like he was waiting for my dad to come get him.

Big hugs to you!

To Luis and Mookey, I am so sorry to hear about your losses. I love my dog so much, I don't know what I would do if something happened to him.
