(Please forgive that I didn't make the new window peak area smooth. I didn't want to mess it up and will try some other day with more time in my hands.)

Okay, I like this Hasbro dome mod a lot:D. Much better than what Sideshow gave us originally and much better than the mod using the same Sideshow dome.
What I like about this dome is that you can still see some "eyebrow" area without it having that stupid "happy Vader" look. The squishy-helmet feel of the first mod that some of you didn't like is also gone. Also, I didn't glue the dome permanently and just attached it with Handi-Tak, which holds it pretty tight in place but still gives the freedom to move the dome around to readjust to different positions (In the movie, the position of the dome shifts a lot through out the different scenes). Might glue it permanently later on.
The position of the Hasbro dome in the pictures below is what I think looks more Vader to me, especially in the first picture.

-LEFT: HASBRO DOME -RIGHT: SSC DOME MODDED Unfortunately, positioning the SSC dome higher won't improve the look, even if it seems that way in this picture. It's all about the shape of the dome. I really like how wide the top of the Hasbro dome appears!

And again, just for kicks, here's what Sideshow gave us originally (with Deak Starkiller's permission):

look soooo much better with a hasbro dome, i use these with alterations where needed, shorter skirt, slimmer central ridge, heres a 'screen correct' ANh dome for one of my Vaders, being made, and completed, firstly on sideshows vader then on one of mine... the central ridge was removed froma casted hasbro dome, replaced with a thinner sharper edged ridge, and the widows peek added with the prop pieces characteristic 'Y'

all scratched and worn paintwork as requested to match the prop pieces.

You are using metal mini tubes for the chest boxes now?! Amazing! I hope my ANH I have on order comes with these! :)

I know I am late to this thread..but I just scored my Vader Ex this week!...yay for me as I bump this thread.

Thanks guys...Im happy to finally be part of the family!

BTW This figure is too damn cool. He dwarfs Luke and Obi Wan...
Is this bad or good?

It's a slight bummer how tall he is when you really want to put him with certain other figures, but as just a figure himself, he's so damn impressive looking that I find I don't care. I've had him for months now and I still feel like he's a PF or something with his size and quality.

I agree, the size has never been a factor to me either. Although I don't collect any one line specifically, just items that interest me. The Darth Vader Ex. is the only 1:6 figure that I own (most of my collection is LOTR). I have him displayed with my GG Boba Fett and Koto 501st trooper and it doesn't bother me at all that he towers over them a bit - because it just adds to his overall menacing presence.

I apologize for the lousy quality of my pics (I need a better camera):

guess you could always do what they do in movies. Have shorter actors stand on boxes. :lol

Finally, some shots of my ANH Vader, post modifications...

The Hasbro helmet makes an incredible difference.I had modified this one for my custom, but it belongs to this guy now. I've taken about 1/2" off the figure, divided equally from the mid-torso and thighs.
The troopers, TIE pilot and ATAT driver are all Marmits, still the best SW figures IMHO...PS
