Thanks man, but I just spent my wad. Kingdom Come just arrived, Long Halloween is supposed to be here tomorrow or monday, and Dark Knight will be here whenever the D-bag from Ebay sends it. :duh I won the auction on Aug. 18 and I just got a message YESTERDAY that he was mailing it out.

First I'm gonna read all of them, then I'm gonna try to pick one up every month. Next on my list is V for Vendetta followed by For Tomorrow. I'm gonna try to get a Borders membership, but since I already have a Barnes and Noble one I'm not really motivated to pay for two book store discount cards

I used to have my Barnes card, but that's a PAID membership.

Borders is free, you get emails weekly with coupons, and you actually get certificates back for accumulating purchases. I still keep an eye on Barnes and Noble items, especially their online toys section cuz it covers collectibles, but consider Borders cuz it's free, and you get perks, even outside of Borders through their partners.

Also, here'a a helpful web link:

best wishes!

i'm reading through Kingdom Come right now and it AWESOME!!! wish i would've grabbed these sooner.

You have to know how to work the BN membership. Back before the Sandman vol 4 was released, BN had it on preorder with a discount plus an extra discount for members. I then received a 20% off online coupon. I applied it to the presell price. When it shipped I only paid like $45 for it.

I love the DC Absolute editions. I hope they re-release the Batman Hush one. Missed that one. Dark Horse has something similar with the Hellboy Library editions. Great oversized editions. 3rd one comes out in October.

The only thing I hate about the membership at Borders is that a big majority of their 40% coupons end up being in-store only, and the nearest Borders for me is like 45 mins away....boo! LOL

this is actually true.
but it works best online as Barnes online prices are lower than in-store prices a good deal of the time. like, example is
-regular price $100,
-in-store $90,
-online $80.
-then you put in your B&N 10% discount, it's $72.
-then you add the online coupon code, usually no more than 20%...~$58

and it's over $25 so free shipping... so you -do- have to time it right, but i got some of my Absolutes that way for great prices. never paid full price between B&N, Borders, or eBay. I'd buy from my LCS, but they do full price.

I have Absolute The Long Halloween and Hush.I currently have Absolute Justice pre-ordered and am contemplating selling Hush.I had found the book last year at a local borders and read it.In the back, there are some fantastic features including a guide that shows you all of the little details and easter eggs that Jim Lee put in the panels.I would flip back to see the easter eggs in the larger format and realized that my copy was misprinted. It was missing about 7-8 pages.I called my bookstore and they said that they couldn't order another because it(Hush) was out of print.I contacted DC in New York and they told me to take it up with the retailer. So,yeah,I wish they'd re-release Hush, too.I also really need to pick up The New Frontier.

ok so i'm officially addicted to these great art collections. i'm about halfway through Kingdom Come and i love it-- the art and story are awesome. went to the LCS and picked up the absolute hush book.

this makes 4 so far and will be getting V for Vendetta next week on my GFs b-day--the LCS gives 35% off your purchase on your b-day so i'm going to take the GF in there to abuse her discount and get my book.

Great, thanks to this thread I've just gotten the Absolute Ronin, Crisis and V for Vendetta and have the 2nd printing New Frontier on order.

I got V for Vendetta because I always thought that the murky art with the washed out color was a mistake in previous printings. But it's not - that's how the Absolute looks too - very ugly although I recognize that it's a style that's semi-appropriate to the story.

Yeah my Absolute collection is growing. I now have Kingdom Come, Hush, Long Halloween, and Dark Knight. Next week I'm gonna use my 35% discount at my LCS to pick up V for Vendetta.

Is there any major differences in the two editions of Absolute New Frontier Dave?

I've done some research, looks like the 2nd printing is the same as the first. I was hoping they would include the One-Shot comic Cooke did last year, but looks like they don't.
Still an amazing book!

I'm almost finished with the Long Halloween and I just picked up the V for Vendetta yesterday. I really love these books just because of the supplemental material that is in all of the books.

~~I won the Dark Knight on the 18th of August and it still hasn't arrived. I've messaged the seller twice and the first time he said he forgot to mail it out and the second time he said it was mailed out on the 3rd. Here it is the 15th and I'm starting to get ticked that it hasn't arrived yet.

Is anyone familiar with the World's Greatest Super-Heroes hardcover they did for Alex Ross and Paul Dini's stories from 1999-2003? It's not an Absolute edition, but it's the same size with a slipcase. I've heard that Ross's art looks washed out in this format and I'm wondering if that's true. I heard it about Kingdom Come in particular.

I have Absolute Justice pre-ordered and I'm hoping it doesn't have similar issues, if there is any issue at all.

OK I finally got the Absolute Dark Knight that I won last month. However, I left negative feedback with the seller because it was torn up beyond all belief. The description was listed as "Pristine" condition with minor shelf wear. But when it arrived the slipcover was literally falling apart and the book itself has some major dings and what not to it. Not nearly what I would describe as pristine. The seller put it in a regular mailing envelope with no extra padding whatsoever so I'm sure it was destroyed on the way from Canada. The seller told me that I should've paid the extra money for insurance, but I told him I would've if I knew he didn't have enough common sense to at least wrap it with some bubble wrap first. What do you guys think??

I'd say it's his fault for not packing it properly.

You'd still have to go through all the hassle of the claiming the insurance making the transaction a pain in the ass for you still.
