NEW HT PREDATOR, 'Dutch' full spec and hi-res pics

if you thought the new diehard was better than the first, then you might not enjoy Predator.

If people haven't seen Alien, Aliens, Predator, Blade Runner, Robocop, Terminator etc... (movies from the 80s, and late 70s in the case of Alien), and see them now, they often don't like them as much. it's not because they aren't good anymore (quite the opposite actually) but because people nowadays are more accustomed to lots of action and special effects, and less substance on the plot. (Dark Knight and Batman Begins are definite exceptions to that rule).

To each his own I guess!

It makes sense for them to do a Dillon, as they already have a muscle body and a headsculpt from the Rocky line. As a matter of fact, I have been considering a custom using those parts. I could see Blaine and Poncho, then Dillon and Mac getting a release. Hawkins will probably be left out, as he was the first to bite it, haha. Of course, they could also pair the last guy with Anna. Honestly, if HT kept these to a limited release, they would sell out.

I would be incredibly annoyed if they went so far as to make 6 of them and didn't make the final 7th!!

I'm hoping maybe they'll put out another batch of 2 and a batch of 3. Or maybe have it 2:2:2 with the extra figure being a new version of Dutch or something.

Well, embrace the notion, the ALIENS line is missing 2 people who were key in the plot while 2 were made that bit it very early into the movie.

Oh I'm well aware HT has a tendency to not make some really obvious key players - TDK commissioner Gordon being one. I just hope poncho and Hawkins are given the benefit of any doubt due to their being soldiers with guns.

As pjam said, it relies totally on the success or failure of Billy, HT's only going to release the team like Billy, they're not likely to pursue everyone's likeness rights, so if Billy doesn't seem like he was worth their time, the rest of the team won't get a chance either.

Please be wrong. Dutch and Billy look great together. I repainted Billy's hair black and it looks pretty good even at that. But the whole team would be...words couldn't describe.

Personally, I could not afford collecting the whole gang, but a V2 Mud Dutch would be cool.
(No idea how they would do it though)

I think they'd just do a body like Hellboy, take the base for the existing Dutch body, add some texture to synthesize the mud and other forest stuff stuck on him, produce the body in a grey tone, then paint the head accordingly.

However, for the sake of savings, I'd say we're more likely to see Dutch just like now, but only with his vest, no camo paint on the head, his bow and arrows, and both spears he had.

I hear that. I'm trying very hard not to want Don corleone, Hellboy, the Planet of the Apes guys, Rocky etc..

Well no, I assume there's a resin or some other solid material they sculpt the body with and then make the mold for the rubber.

I'm saying take a copy of the base for the mold, add texture to that, then make a new mold for the textured body.

However, that's a costly move with only one figure that can use it. The muscle body this Dutch is on is already used on 2 figures and will likely be used on several more so it was worth making. With muddy Dutch being a variant of sorts compared to say Hellboy or Davy Jones where it's go unique or not, I don't see them going for tooling a one use body in this instance.

It'd be awesome, and what would be nice too is if it included a clean portrait to use on the Dutch figure that's out now so we could have him post swim for the hand to hand combat with the Predator, sure you could repaint this figure, but if they did a second Dutch it'd be a nice inclusion, if they made him muddy and not like my other suggestion.

i'd be happy if they made blain or mac. Personally blain because of the minigun, ammo pack and rattlesnake skin at but i was watching pred last night for the millionth time and noticed mac's ammo sling looks pretty cool and would do so on the figure plus the m64 he carries. Barring that they could easily make the dillion figure given they already made the apollo cred figure.

One question though if they made blain would mtv give ht the rights to put their logo on blain's shirt?

Dunno have a feeling that ht may be finished with this line of figures from pred 1.

My own wishlist would be as follows from the pred series

1) blain
2) mac
3) lieutenant harrigan, danny glover
4) king willy even though he had a minor role in pred 2 he would be cool as a figure and the they could use the dreds from the pred on him
5) maybe dillon given they have the apollo figure

then that would finish the pred line once and for all barring a pred 3 release for me.
