:google That is high praise. I might need to get one. How much are these? And they're not exclusive to any particular retailer, are they?

That's the only downer, pretty overpriced. The thing is no more than the ULTRA Jabba was in '04, this thing cost almost $30 for a "battle pack", I swear Ultra Jabba was no more than $20.

However, as far as praise, I honestly don't feel like the competition is that strong. 1983 Kenner really nice captures the shape and look of ROTJ Jabba. The second best to me is this new CW version, with 1997 SE Jabba at third.

The Jabba blob / Ultra Jabba, which are the same thing, are nice, and the painting is pretty good on the Ultra, but, the overall shape is pretty subpar, his tail is very flat, the way it runs into the body doesn't seem natural, so those 2 come up short to me.

The only other Hasbro Jabba I know of is the Ep1 regular, which is actually really nice but for the mouth being made only for the spitting head action, I'd have loved to get it to replace my SE Jabba for that body style, but when you're not using the spitting action he looks stupid. Another case of a figure with great potential ruined by Hasbro being to kid oriented. I know they're toys for kids, but sometimes the features they add in, kids probably don't enjoy that much either.

Well my Ewok army is now up to 10 repaints with the actual released figures that look in scale taking that number to about 13 I think. Man.. I have a problem :lol

I got my CW Jabba a few days ago at Target for $23.99. When you consider that the single figures are like $8 now, I guess getting a large rubberized Jabba figure, interpreter droid, and railing/hooka for that price isn't that bad of a deal. Really cool figure. The only minor complaint I have (aside from the arms falling off) is that they painted it so that the pattern on the top and bottom of the body only matches up if you have his tail going straight behind him, instead of to the side like you are likely to do. Love the mouth moving feature, which they don't even mention on the box if I recall.

Yea, I don't quite understand why he was painted for a crawling along look when he was atop his throne the whole time in the CW movie, but, as a crawling figure, he's really nice.

Quick question-- My wife's going on a shopping excursion with friends tomorrow into the States and as we don't have Target here in Canada she will be shopping at one stateside-- Are there any exclusives (for SW-- or for that matter any of the lines like Indy...etc.) that are out right now?... I tried an on-line search but it only gave me a bunch of Exclusives from the '08 line.

If there're any that you know of please let me know-- She said she'd grab me something (she indulges the disease). :D

I believe the new Return of the Jedi Rancor is a Target Exclusive, but I'm not certain and I'm not sure if it's out yet.

Don't know about Star Wars or Indy, but all of the JLU figures are either exclusive to Target or Mattycollector. GI Joe has Target exclusive jets--Rattler and Tiger Force repaint; Conquest and Python Patrol repaint.

Thanks for the info guys... Of those I think the only one I'd try to nab is the Rancor-- but as it's the missus I don't think I'm going to put her through the hassel of carrying it and it taking up space in the van that'll be filled with crazed shopping women and their won booty-- and their booties. :lol And I think you're right MaulFan, I don't think it's out yet anyway.

I was hoping maybe a figure or something-- but it looks like the Fox one (and I've got that-- thanks Josh) is the only recent one and that was from awhile ago.

I've only ever bought one SW Mighty Mugg and that was Grievous-- and although I have bought some of my favourite G.I. Joes I don't think I want to get any vehicles... Thanks icruise and karamazov80.

It is a Target exclusive but it's just now started to show up in some stores out West. Talk is it will start showing up more frequently after their Memorial Day weekend resets this week.

Cool, I'm really looking forward to it, I love the Rancor and this one looks fantastic. I have the original Kenner and the POTF2 version already, looking forward to this next evolution. The ultimage would be a Sideshow Rancor. GG's is nicely detailed, but the composition of the piece is so bland.

I think it's feasible if it's a limited articulation, holo vinyl peice like Jabba, wouldn't weigh any more than a PF or 1:1 bust and wouldn't be much bigger either.

That would still be close to 3 feet tall and I bet they'd charge a pretty penny no matter what materials it was made from.

Good question: Would you rather have that or an authentic replica of the 18" puppet model used by ILM for ROTJ?

If it had the benefit of someone from the original creation being involved, I'd take the replica. I love the Jabba, JAWS maquette and Crumb 1:1 have that extra something to them besides just being pieces. I know other SSC stuff has that too but I don't own it.

Yeah, cuz otherwise, it'd really just be an 18" Rancor and at that point, I say add on another 8-10 inches and make it go with the 1/6 line, but if it can be a special piece, that's always better than a loosely based collectible.

It was so exciting to know the Jabba was done in collaboration, and I think it paid off, even Crumb 1:1, some of the best SSC Star Wars pieces come from having the hands on input of the creators.

Unlikely, but I'd laugh if someone ever bought a spare Jabba and one of the Hobbit figures and made a dio of the little guy inside working Jabba's tail :lol
