Thanks for the pics Wor-Gar.

No problem. Wish the pics were better, and definitely wish I had better news to report.

I do see Patrick McNee in the sculpt. :lol But in-hand it does look like Paul Freeman as well. No Roger Moore in-hand. Again, pics tomorrow in daylight will clear this up.

As I said before, this figure was never going to be a "oh wow cool!" type figure. It's a relatively non-distinctive face in a white suit... so the WOW factor was never there. But it's Belloq...if you like him.

I think the customs made from this as a base will be much, much more impressive.

Yea, my card was declined for this but overall I'm not really too concerned. I'd the environment but can live without it. In fact I may just swap Indy to a TT, and have him be his own single figure line. I dunno. Collecting tastes are changing I guess.

Yeah, I'm pretty much passing on this line for everything except Indy. If they do a TOD Indy or a KOTCS Indy I'll pick those up too.

I'm not sure the Indy line can survive much further with quality like this for the price -- Belloq is a $40 figure, no doubt about it.

Thanks guys!

OK, so here's some totally UNFUTZED pics --

Patrick Macnee?

:lol You beat me to it!

This is disappointing. If the enviroment does not provide the "Whoa!" factor, this will be the first return I ever make to Sideshow (not counting damaged items.) :sick

Happy B-day and thanks for the quick shots (now go have a few LOL) and review Wor-Gar.
Looking forward to your post-futz shots...he's looking pretty crumpled out of the box there.

And...like the always too-dark hair these figures seem to always sport, what is up with the too-small jackets? You're right...the movie-suit was almost baggy in comparison. And this is the pro (really skinny) body too right? Again, futzing may make all the difference, eh?

Thanks for the pics Wor-Gar. This figure looks nothing like Belloq to me. Could be the pics, but I don't see it at all. I can't believe what you get for that price! Sideshow NEEDS to step up their game or hand over 1/6 to Hot toys.

Definitely not as nice as I thought it would look. Great review so far, Wor-Gar. I agree with everything you picked out. The suit looks so,..."un" Belloq. It almost looks like it's made from burlap, lol. Bummer. Looking forward to the pedestal pics.
Mike

BTW, I think he looks alot like Robin Williams. SHAZBOT!

Cancelled my exclusive today - I was really keen to get the environment (and I even think the figure looks okay too!) but Sideshow's continued insistence on only offering FedEx for international shipping, coupled with the terrible state of the NZ dollar, bumped this one into the too hard basket for me (over NZD$400 including shipping!). If only Sideshow would offer USPS tracked shipping or some alternative to FedEx, then I might be able to keep collecting their exclusives ... otherwise, sadly, it'll be the regular editions from elsewhere for me from now on.

But hopefully someone here just had their Waitlist convert! :)

First off, Happy Birthday Wor-Gar.
I got mine today too. One of the arms was upside down so I had to take everything off to spin it around. Also the neck was backwards. Both easy fixes but annoying none the less. His hair is way too dark. I was watching the movie as I was doing the futz thing. His hair was definitely grey with black streaks not black with a couple of grey highlights. One last thing that's bothering me is the snap. The suit is just a little to tight and is causing the snap to be visible. Check out Wor-Gar's pics to see what I mean.
The pedestal is awesome.
Belloq figure 6.5 out of 10
Pedestal 10 out of 10

Thanks for the mini review Wor-Gar, I can see Paul Freeman but yeah his hair needs to be greyer. I want to pose Belloq post Tanis protecting the Ark with the MP-40-do you think it can be done with his outfit/gear? Also happy birthday old bean.

Thank you all for the B-Day wishes!

OK, so, to answer some quick questions:

I don't think he has monkey arms. Just the suit is hiked up in my picture as it is right from the box. Futzing should fix that.

For using this Belloq as the post-Tanis outfit (where Indy holds him off with the bazooka) this is NOT the correct outfit for that. This outfit is the Cairo bar outfit: dotted tie, watch. The shirt should be pale ice blue, but its not. For the 'bazooka' scene, you'd need a striped shirt and a flat gray tie. The suit itself is correct, proper pocket pleats, etc, it just needs futzing. The suit is very accurate if a little too tight.

Yes, the tie is a big disappointment for me. I hate that string pinching the knot. It has to be replaced. But for those planning the Dig Site outfit, he had no tie anyway, just a rolled scarf (easy to make).

I'll have a better sense tomorrow when I can take some time to really try to get the suit, hat, gear all on and sitting properly.

This is still the only Belloq available, and it will always be. For that alone, I had to get him...even though I have my own custom. Once he's futzed, I'll do a compare of my own against the SS version.

Awesome! I can't wait for the pics! :rock

Happy Birthday Wor-Gar!
As for the figure. Well, from W-G's pics he looks very much like the prototype did, so no surprise or disappointment for me. I'm sure a little futzing will help o improve his looks because right out of the box the clothes look bad. Even the likness is somwhere there if you look hard enough ;)

Now, where are the pics of the pedestal? :tap
