That is under super ideal conditions, he looks even darker normally in person.
Frankly I'd be more then happy if he looked anything like 1 of those 3 film grabs, but he doesn't. Returns aren't an option, not since it was an international dealer purchase, so I just have to live with a very bad, very 'black' paint job. Making the Fell Beast vs Eagle dio my best for 2008.

I noticed that you also have an Indy who's hand is a lighter colour.
This to me shows that yours and Faken's are a mistake by Sideshow. It's a shame as I think these ones should be acknowledged as defective and replaced.

I did a video of the PF here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ah25jtHsFA0
watch it High Quailty and around 1.51 as I change the lighting.
All he needs some lighting from underneath him

I saw more belly in that video than Indy. :D

JP. Nice video. But I don't think "lighting" is the problem. Plus yours looks good even before you turn it towards the light. Nowhere near as dark as others I've seen on here. I think the problem is, there's a fine line between tan/dirty and dark. Too much paint, or colors mixed in the wrong combination and you get the latter.

Here's a PF comparison for you all, nothing to do with light and it was far from being a 'fine line', he's just tooooo bloody dark.

Exclusive version or regular?

thank!

Mine looks fine as well. It's turning out to be luck of the draw on this piece and it shouldn't be that way. I don't buy the "each piece is handmade so there will be variations" Sideshow explanation. There's something to be said for consistency.

I sent the following email message about all this to Sideshow and got a reply that it will be forwarded to Production Development Team. But then I really didn't expect anything else.

Normally I just let things go, but in theory customer feedback is designed to make things better, so.... I was really looking forward to my Indy PF and overall it is outstanding, but for one issue.

The dark tan face paint on mine makes him look almost half black in anything but ideal/bright light. While I understand they are all hand painted, in theory the painters are working off a reference image and if that image looked anything like the face paint on the product box, then in the case of my statue they missed it by a long mark.

I can understand some variations, but based on all the images I've seen on the web, nothing else thats painted (base, idol, whip, hands) have anywhere near the range of light-ish/normal to super dark tan that the face seems to be having. From what I can tell, it seems that I got one of the more darker extreme paint apps, which given its the regular, I've got no means to repaint or lighten, and it was an international/dealer
purchase, I'm basically stuck with it.

At a cost of around $500AUD, this is somewhat disappointing and one of the reasons why I've not purchased the Galadriel PF (every picture/film frame clearly shows she did not have bright ruby RED lips) and while I don't have any plans to sell my Indy PF (or any of my statues), I just know his re-sale value would be way down compared to a normal (more film/human accurate) face paint version.

As such, can I please ask that sideshow take just the little extra care to get everything correct, its a real shame when such a fantastic sculpt and overall production ends ups been much less then one had hoped for and knows that it could have been.

What with the economy what it is and prices what they are, one can only afford few select items and when there is such a likely hood of things going 'wrong', it ends up being safer to just give it all a miss.

I went into my local comic store that carries some figures and PFs and saw their PF Indy on display. It was incredibly dark. It looked like many of the pictures posted on this thread. If there were any doubts for me that it could be just a bad photo or lighting, they were erased by seeing this first hand in person. The color is wrong. Not an opinion. No bad photo. No bad lighting. They painted Indy the wrong color.

I saw the Indy PF for the first time yesterday and it looked fine to me. Not to dark at all. Just a normal skin tone. It's the regular edition I should ad.
