Depending on the lighting, that Grant head sculpt looks okay to just bad. It must be the skin tone as well…

Anyway, I’m not impressed by the tailoring, sculpting and colours of this figure. But, will probably end up getting it when it drops in price. Because this may be the only CW Flash we will ever get, and the first two seasons got me through certain key adverse points in my life. Sentimental value I guess.

I wasn’t aware captain pinhead was the pinnacle of 1/6 action figures. I like the added touch of caps eyes welling up from watching a good friend die.

And It’s awesome that Chris Evans stunt double got a figure too...it’s nice of HT.

OT, we may not have agreed on issues...but I expected better from you.

You deliberately chose an unflattering picture of Picard...why? In some misguided attempt to...protect HT “spotless” record?

One of the worst things anyone can do is take a photo of an unfutzed, poorly posed and poorly lit figure to present as any kind of evidence to essentially say “see? This is crap”.

Let me ask you OT...you’re telling me this:

Is better than this?

I’m not going to repeat myself any more. It’s bad enough I’ve posted walls of texts. But if you do go back and read them, maybe you’ll get a clearer picture of what I was trying to say.

It really does seem like there’s a breakdown of logic here. If basic concepts like “on average” don’t make sense or if you’re too bias against HT to think critically then there’s no more point having this discussion.

It seems you won’t be satisfied unless we all say 99% of HT figures are garbage and blindly believe that a company thats made like 3 figures total were suddenly making dozens per year they wouldn’t have a few misses. It’s a complete false equivalency to compare the best piece from a small volume unlicensed figure company to some cherry picked individual head sculpts from figures from a company thats made hundreds of figures typically with multiple sculpts per figure.

To answer your question, yes I think HT CW Flash is a superior figure to that Picard. They both have suit color/texture/proportion issues. The sculpt is more realistic on the HT and the paint especially is miles ahead. No one is getting close to the paint apps and OVERALL quality of HT. Just look at the HT Flash standing next to SooSoo Green Arrow.

I don’t know or care anything about the MCU but even a quick search can verify both of those Captain America figures are better overall kits than anything I’ve seen from a 3rd party.

At this point I think you just need to accept you’re a hater for what ever reason. You’re looking for value in 3rd party stuff and ignoring major flaws in them then doing the exact opposite with HT and looking for things to complain about. It’s nuts and I don’t know how you could possibly enjoy the hobby with that attitude.

Your preaching about others lacking objectivity and honesty is either willful blindness to your own hypocrisy or really subtle satire.
3rd party companies do fantastic work all the time, and yes I would happily display some of it right next to my Hot Toys and there are certain pieces that I think are superior to some of Hot Toys offerings.
I mean just from the top of my head there are some that rival your average Hot Toys release or even surpass it including their Toys Era Green Goblin and Doc Ock, plus their Xmen figures are great you also have Soosootoys Daredevil figures, Green Arrow etc. the offering from 3rd party companies can be amazing if you are willing to open your mind.
The fact that you call others haters and create a strawman argument that they are saying ALL Hot Toys are garbage to "prove" their lack of objectivity, while in the same breath saying that no figures anywhere ever come even CLOSE to Hot Toys is just pure nonsensical stanning.
Its possible to like, even love some of a companies output - be ambivalent or hate some of the rest, and disagree with their overall practices.

I love all of my Hot Toys figures and I own a great many, many I think are some of the best of the best in the hobby....
but for the love of GOD they are a COMPANY not a RELIGION!!!! Stop treating every VALID criticism as a heretical affront to your DEITY.

Seriously what is your offense at the notion that this figure is a disappointment? or that Hot Toys need to shape up a bit in their at times slapdash approach? What is so offensive to you about higher standards, more communication, and better value for money?

Show me where I said this…

…then define strawman.

What you and BrooklynWolf X are doing is an appeal to purity. You’re saying Hot Toys isn’t the industry leader because they’ve made some missteps. You’re cherry picking examples and ignoring the reality that, despite their flaws, they’re still unquestionably the person to beat in the industry.

Instead of engaging in these trading of insults and squabbling over the rhetoric of our individual arguments - maybe we should look at those areas we agree.
Ultimately it doesn't matter if you consider Hot Toys the best (of a bad bunch or not) 1/6 scale company or not, surely the important point here is that we ALL agree that they need to shape up, improve, stop overcharging for either subpar or lazy releases and hold them accountable.
This focus on each other is the precise lack of a united front I'm talking about - the same lack of unity that allows Hot Toys to wallow in its worst possible business practices which is driving the company, the product and indeed the entire market downhill (whether you agree or not that they have been "dethroned" yet is ultimately incidental, at the current trajectory it is inevitable).
Nah…I got a little bit of second hand embarrassment from reading this…
I have a wife, three kids, and a full time, salaried job that requires a lot of decision-making via e-mail outside of normal business hours.
I like to buy a high end action figure here and there for fun…
What in the world would make you think I care about having a “United Front” or having “Unity” with ANYONE else who wants to buy the same products from some company that I do.
I don’t have the time or the inclination to UNITE with anyone to help make some toy company successful, I’m too busy working on making the company that employs ME successful…because they pay me to do that.
If Hot Toys keeps making figures I like, I buy them…if they stop making figures that I like, I stop buying them…thats about it for me.
It’s fun to argue about, but if you actually have the time to really care about any of this, unless you actually work in the 1/6 scale figure industry, I really don’t know what to tell you.
I guess I would just say good luck uniting with strangers on the internet and forcing some company that doesn’t care about you and generates most of its revenue from people who do not come to this site, to change its wicked ways.
While you’re doing that I’ll be doing something else. :lol

Having high expectations is being biased against HT? Wanting them to stop recycling sculpts, doing half@$$ jobs is being a hater? When I look at amazing figures like arkham Knight batman, Batfleck, 1/4 TDK batman, dr strange, IW Thor, PS4 Spider-Man, and compare them to trash like flash, EG cap, daredevil, ROTJ luke, Indiana Jones, BB both 1/6 and 1/4, batman returns...I’m not thinking “god this company is effin garbage, I HATE THEM!”.

No. I’m thinking why the hell aren’t those figures getting the same love and care like the other ones?!
Going by your logic, you and the other guy wouldn’t rest until we ALL hail HT as the greatest company ever and acknowledge that 99.9% of their products have NO FLAWS WHATSOEVER.

you and the other guy keep missing the point. Showing a picture of Picard wasn’t to convey “HT HAS BEEN DETHRONED BECAUSE THIS ONE LONE TREK FIGURE TOOK DOWN AN ENTIRE COMPANY!”

First of all, relax. You guys need to stop taking this personally.

Secondly, It was to illustrate that ANOTHER COMPANY HAS PRODUCED A FIGURE THAT IS EQU...

Y’know what...I’ve repeated myself over and over. It’s like I’m arguing with a brick wall at this point.

You’re right, there is no conversation to be had. Especially when you actually and emphatically expressed the opinion that this flash figure is better than Picard AND SST green arrow and ANY other 1st and 3rd party offering that features amazing portraits, tailoring and overall fun factor.

THIS VERY FLASH FIGURE...with its NUMEROUS glaring flaws, where member Magic Chaser, someone that has a personal attachment to the show and it’s character, can’t even bring himself to get it at full price. And the only reason he’ll eventually get it (with a PRICE DROP) is that deep inside, Magic knows we won’t get another official release.

Yeah, that’s a stellar figure right there. I’m sold on it. $250. Tax and shipping not included

THIS VERY FLASH FIGURE...As well as EG cap. Another figure with its glaring issues...are unequivocally better than Picard, Ghostbusters, Asmus Gandalf, SST Arrow, robin, damtoys godfather....

...and I’m biased??

You’re right...there’s no conversation to be had.

While you’re doing that I’ll be doing something else. :lol

Yeah...like coming onto a forum reminding everyone how much you love HTs and insulting others that don’t hold the same opinion as yours.

You said you have a wife and 3 kids?

And do you hold conversations like this...in real life?? With other people?

I love how you had to let us know about your...personal life, as if it had any relevance to the topic.

You most definitely have a VERY unique view on things...

Particularly the...”analogy” about little brooklynwolf getting a D- in a classroom of Fs...therefore, technically...is still the best...

That explains your love for HT...

You should uh...I dunno, think about raising your standards.

Dude...it’s a lost cause.

I think we should stop. Not for their sake, but for our mental health.

Okay - here is where you make that argument.

.....

At this point I think you just need to accept you’re a hater for what ever reason. You’re looking for value in 3rd party stuff and ignoring major flaws in them then doing the exact opposite with HT and looking for things to complain about. It’s nuts

and here is the definition of strawman:
"noun: strawman

1. an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument."

Yep, your point seems pretty textbook, but nice attempt.

Oh wait here's another textbook strawman argument from you!!
What you and BrooklynWolf X are doing is an appeal to purity.

Perhaps you should read someone else's response before you reply to it (and read your own for that matter) and maybe approach the problem with an element of open-mindedness and academic integrity rather than attempt to discredit others with cheap (and poorly utilized) rhetorical tricks.

Okay - here is where you make that argument.

The claim I made about you wanting us to say 99% of Hot Toys releases are garbage was hyperbole. Again you ignore the substance of what I said to focus on a cherry picked detail you can defeat easily… hmm…

Your omission of the second half of your statement above was pretty convenient. I’ve never said “no figures come even CLOSE to Hot Toys”. I’ve never suggested anything like that.

All I have ever said was that you and BrooklynWolf X are being unrealistic in the extent that you expect us to **** on Hot Toys, that the consistency of Hot Toys paint is unmatched, and that no other company comes close to dethroning Hot Toys as the company to beat in 1:6, on average (meaning not on a figure to figure comparison but as whole across their product line).

I stand by that. And if you can’t tell how thats different from the strawman you created, “no other figure comes close to anything HT has made” then thats on you.

It’s a complete false equivalency to compare the best piece from a small volume unlicensed figure company to some cherry picked individual head sculpts from figures from a company thats made hundreds of figures typically with multiple sculpts per figure.

Coming from someone that couldn’t have picked a more unflattering picture of Picard.

I wasn’t aware that presenting pictures of select individual portraits to illustrate a point was considered “cherry picking”. I guess I never got the memo.

I could have easily found DOZENS of examples, many from my own collection, but to keep things short and...mostly succinct, I opted to not and instead used a pic of the flash...Y’know, the very figure we’re talking about?

I’ve never said “no figures come even CLOSE to Hot Toys”. I’ve never suggested anything like that.

Honestly I was ready to move on...but bruh...
No one is getting close to the paint apps and OVERALL quality of HT.

I mean...bro, c’mon. Unless you’re gonna say “I never said FIGURES”...that’s politician levels of twisting things. Please don’t do that.

NO ONE is asking you to $#!t on HT. We’re asking you and whoever else shares the same opinion as yours to be critical of them when it’s necessary.

Being critical of them does NOT = $#itting on them. It’s asking for them to do better. No company gets it right all the time...but this is HT who, for all intents and purposes, have raised the bar when they started out, leaving many companies to play catch up.

And catch up they did. Oh did other companies catch up. And that’s what happens when the top company, ANY top company in any medium, gets complacent.

All I was hoping for was a discussion without it turning into a $#itshow with passive aggressive insults thrown around.

But no discussion can be had when one side isn’t willing to listen and resorts to gaslighting all for the sake of “keeping the status quo”.

I’m ready to move on. Put me on ignore if you have to. But this isn’t going anywhere.

My personal life had plenty to do with the topic when the topic is what’s truly important to ME…and what I choose to spend my time prioritizing.
I would ask if you spend your time in “real life” speaking to people the way you do on this site as well, but it really makes no difference to me whatsoever, so why would I care?
Your reading comprehension continues to be a struggle for you, as once again, I have yet to say that I “love” or even “like” Hot Toys…just didn’t say it.
Stating correctly that they are the industry leader has no bearing on my personal feelings about them.
If I state that McDonalds is the “Fast Food Leader” are you so incapable of thinking with any nuance that you will assume that I LOVE McDonalds and eat it every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
I never touch the stuff, hate it in fact, but I can still state that they are number one as a verifiable fact.

Your weird obsession with “reading comprehension” is simply you projecting your lack of it into others. And it shows when you tripled down on those extremely flawed analogies. And mentioning the word “nuance” casts even more doubt as to whether you truly had a strong grasp of the whole entire $#!t fiesta in the first place.

This all started with the idea that other companies have come out with product that matched and exceeded HT extensive catalogue. That doesn’t mean ONE singular figure or single company has “usurped” HT as a whole. It just means they can do better because other companies have caught up. There’s that NUANCE that YOU missed. The term “reigning king”, which I intentionally quoted, was a light innocent jab aimed at the collectors who think HT should be devoid of any criticisms. Anyone who uses that term should be ashamed due to how cringe AF it is.

And that’s when you flopped yourself into the ring like some wrestler that’s desperate to get his $#!t in and shine, expressing just how ludicrous and outlandish it is to think HT is no longer the best! TO YOU, in spite of ALL of their short comings, they’re still “the best”. And to justify this flawed logic, you threw in analogies with cars, test scores...and now McDonald’s.

Oh my...

I can’t even be angry at that. You literally took the time to google “fast food leader”, typed out that insane post, didn’t bother to proof read it and legit thought “yeah, this is good”. And then you hit ‘post reply’.

I shouldn’t dignify that with a response...but I can’t help it, so I’ll humor you.

Mickey D’s IS the industry leader. You said you hate it and think it’s disgusting, but still acknowledge that it’s No.1. Cool. So?

Big brand recognition and thousands of locations throughout the world. Big surprise there. But ranking is irrelevant when the whole crux of this ridiculous debate WAS ABOUT QUALITY. It was never about brand recognition or quantity. This is the equivalent of me saying “this no named mom n pop burger joint makes awesome burgers that blow any fast food joints out of the water”, and you coming back with “that’s ludicrous, Mickey d’s is still the best and industry leader!”.

“uh...have you had Mickey d’s lately?”

“No they’re disgusting, but I still recognize that they’re No.1”

Jal...think before you type. And please, whatever you do, do NOT enroll your 3 kids into the same schools you went to. You’ll be doing them a great favor.

Get the last word if you want. I know pettiness won’t allow the opposing person to have the last word. But I’m moving on. Have fun while you’re at it.

I’m sorry…my personal rule is that use of both the colloquial term “bruh” coupled with the use of the term “bro” in a single post means I can’t speak to you anymore.
I was considering giving you a second chance until you used the term “cringe AF,” now I can’t really speak to you at all.
You mentioned where my kids go to school, well based upon the above I’ll have to let you finish this debate with my 11 year old son because it would be unfair to expect you to be able to continue it with me.
If I’d picked up on your apparent age sooner I would have gracefully bowed out of this “discussion” several posts ago. :lol
