Would like to add this to my collection, but how are the bodies from Asmus? I only have figures from Sideshow and Hot Toys, so my spectrum of other 1/6 scale producers is rather narrow. Also, any hope of a rerun of this figure? :)

The bodies now are fine. I don’t do any extreme poses but all of my Asmus figures are sturdy it seems. I don’t own the Morgul Lord but from what I’ve read and seen they actually taped his joints... The reviews I’ve seen say the same thing - loose joints. So Asmus included a replacement body with Eowyn. Keep in mind, this was one of their earlier releases and they have definitely come a long way. Hope this helps.

Late answer, sorry for it!

Might look in to this figure a bit more, but it's dang expensive right now. Since joints might be loose, also not weird if you consider the time since release, would it be possible to replace the body with a pichen or Hot Toys body with better overall quality?

Regards!

If you're lucky enough to find the second release version of the Morgul Lord, the body was vastly improved (the original release did indeed have electrical tape applied to strengthen the joints). The improved replacement body was also released with Eowyn.

So, I know this thread is long dead, but I finally got him... And a replacement body... Grail found!! :yess:

One does not just post in this thread. There is evil there...that does not sleep!

(Nice pick-up! Never got into this line but love the Wraiths)

It does look great and I love the pose.

I originally didn't feel the need for this figure, as I have the SS/Weta statue, which is in 1/6th scale.

If it gets a new release, I may consider getting it and selling off the statue.

Man, that looks great! Did you do any other mods apart from putting him on the other body? He looks nicely weathered!

I've had mine up on the shelf with the old, high-waisted body forever. I have the replacement body that came with Eowyn but I've just been too lazy to make the switch. This is inspiring me to take him down and do a little futzing!

That looks awesome! C'mon Asmus, let's get this fella out again. I'd happily pay top dollar for a die-cast version of that armour...Crown Series version?

Thanks, guys!! :duff

But I gotta say, it was a stressful experience getting him like that...

Bought it stock on Ebay unmodded with the taped body... Found official COO replacement on Toy Anxiety (I think they still have one left)?
The hardest part was dismantling the old body, belt snapped, foot peg broke and foot armor fell off, couldn't get the arms off the old body and broke the sockets, wrist pegs were a nightmare, very hard to remove the helmet...
Man, the original release had a lot of problems!!

Re-clothing the new body was ok, but really hard getting the helmet back on while keeping the hood cloth out of the way...
Boiled the thigh armor and it finally fit on the new thighs, but discovered they were actually two identical left thigh armor pieces???
I wonder if anyone else has the same issue, or if they just only bothered making one thigh piece for both legs for everyone?
Glued foot peg, glued foot armor, glued belt, water-treated each layer of clothing individually...

And now he's magnificent!! :yess:

Well you did an amazing job of saving that figure and making it pure awesomeness. One of the best WK's I've seen. Love the mud splatter in particular, breaks up the black nicely and makes him even more nasty and ghoulish.

Is that how you got the armor to fit? Did you put it on while it was still somewhat still pliable? Is the body you have the same one that Asmus shipped out?

Yup... I just put the thigh armor pieces in small bowl and poured boiling water over them, left them for 2-3 minutes and then dried them off and they were really quite flexi after that...
Pushed them gently up as far as they would go over the trousers and they just manged to get far enough above the knee joint on the new body to allow almost full movement...
The body I found on Toy Anxiety was the exact same COO body that Asmus shipped out with slightly bigger thighs but otherwise so much better than the stock body...
TA still have one of those bodies available, I think... Check the link I put a few posts back...

Thanks, bud... Sometimes I feel like I'm catching up with events from over 5 years ago... I remember how excited you were when you got him way back then...
Now I know why!! :thud:
