I have growing respect for Grace. Sorry Chakor.

Even if I hadn't read the leaks I'd know exactly what she must be talking about. If you've seen the trailers and looked at any interviews and con-appearances with Tim Miller and co it's easy to deduce the major spoilers. Once again they basically gave everything away before the film came out.

It's funny because unlike Jake Lloyd I really like Furlong as young John but wow, talk about missing the mark at picking a kid who'd grow up to embody an iconic badass, lol.

Josh Brolin in Goonies = Future Thanos

Edward Furlong in Teminator 2 = Future Rosie O'Donnell?

lol

Yeah, but wasn't he just picked at a mall cause the casting director thought he resembled Linda Hamilton? That was the story I always heard.

I never saw the resemblance either.

He was found at a school by casting director Mali Finn, who was looking for a kid that could look the part of a rebellious, street smart type. Basically, they were looking for a juvenile delinquent and found one. And juvenile delinquents usually grow up to be Edward Furlongs.

It looks like the movie is fallen into the "why we needed this again?" category. It is medicore. And to be honest after reading and hearing what Cameron and Miller planed for the franchise I am very very happy that this movie looks like a fail. Cameron even go against his own view...and do what he hates. He just does not care about his own creation anymore clear as a day. It is sad...big twist at the beginning of the movie and the hole rehashed same old, same old movie...Switching names unnecessary just for the sake of whatever...they destroyed everything we loved about the first 2. I am glad to see that this one is in the same line like T3, TS and T5.

One chance is the prequel future movie from now on. But I am not sure we will get the opportunity for this...and I do not want to think about the quality of that movie after 4 failed attempts. They should just stop finally. It is embarrassing.

When you look at what Matt Reeves did with those Planet of the Apes movies, yeah, it should have been possible to do a good Terminator 2029 movie to close the franchise in a perfect loop leading back into T1 and T2. But studios don't want to do that because that'd be drawing a line under it and saying it's finished. No, they want it to just go on and on hence the constant soft rebooting for a new trilogy and rehashing the exact same format over and over.

What I don't get about those early reactions comparing Dark Fate to The Force Awakens - particularly the comment ''if it aint broke don't fix it'' - is that Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines already pulled a Force Awakens way back in 2003 and people rightly didn't like it. So why should we like a 2019 film doing exactly the same thing? Because they've put more women in it? Because they renamed Skynet to something else? Sorry guys, I don't think you've quite put your finger on why people haven't enjoyed these last few movies. They keep taking the wrong lessons from their failures.

Another case in point - Terminator Salvation - 'oh, well, we can't go into the future because they didn't like Salvation' - No! We didn't like that because it wasn't the future from the Cameron movies (it was set in 2019 actually if memory serves); you changed stuff unnecessarily - you just couldn't resist having a new good-guy Terminator even though it totally diminishes the threat of the machines and the novelty of the reprogrammed Uncle Bob; you made John Connor an idiot who tells everyone who'll listen who his parents were (like anyone would give a crap) and that he's the 'prophesied' leader of the resistance (they'd just think he was a loon or has a weird sense of entitlement); you made the T-800 ridiculously overpowered and invulnerable - fortunately for John they also made it as idiotic as him. It has numerous opportunities to kill him instantly, including one time where it literally has John by the throat and could crush his neck with one hand and punch into his chest with the other - but instead he just throws him around.

Lastly, Salvation writer(s), you left out all the meaty stuff - John/Kyle Reese development, the final battle and the time displacement machine - because you were saving it for two more movies because everything has to be a trilogy because money. Sigh. To paraphrase Critical Drinker - **** off movie studios.

A-dev I really don't and cannot understand why they cannot make one good movie. They are sitting at the table and they know 3 movies already failed...cause of the ****** writing, directing etc...and than they are doing the exact same thing again for the 4th time with the same formula for the 3rd time. You know the funny thing is that Cameron is a great filmmaker...yet he approved this. Approved to do what they did with this. It doesn't make sense to me.

I am a huge Terminator fan. I loved the first two movie and I have attachments to them. I always wanted to see a future movie...which is a prequel for the first two. And as I said it is very disheartening to see they are always failing very badly. I read countless Terminator Books and also Comics. I love Terminator 2 - Judgment Day - Nuclear Twighlight which is basically the prequel for the first two. Great story. They had many-many great sources for those and yet...it is always the same old crap again.

Yeah, sad to say, but like Ridley Scott or George Lucas, it seems even Cameron can't be trusted with his own creation anymore. And as I said, he has lost any right to criticize Alien 3 as a sequel to Aliens after what he approved (or even wrote himself?) in Dark Fate.

Yes and he said in countless interviews...even in 2019...that killing Newt and Hicks was a huge mistake...and you cannot kill characters you grew up with and grown to love like that in the sequel...especially if the character still has a great story to tell...yet as you said...he made something in Dark Fate.

The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

There is still the possibility that this movie against all odds of its own doing will be a box office success.

I don?t even understand how we made it this far to be honest

But if it makes money you can expect another one sorry a-dev lol

I agree with A-Dev and others who always wanted a future movie in the Terminator universe that Cameron showed in the original and T2 movies. Movie should show Conner finding Reese and building their relationship and taking out Skynet at the end and sending Reese and Uncle Bob back in time. I want to see the battles with them and Skynet with the blackened sky and the results of the fallout to the Earth and the 40watt plasma canons. Would make for an epic trilogy but we all know it will never happen. I love Terminator and T2 both because they are so different from one another but still fit together. Everything since is just fan fiction.

You guys that want a Future War movie directed by Cameron, you better hope someone writes a script where the Skynet core they took out at the beginning of T2 was a decoy and the real core is on the Atlantic Ocean floor. Because, unless Jimmy can drive around in his submarine while filming an underwater human resistance assault on an ocean-dwelling Skynet, there's nothing that's gonna make him give a flying F about the Terminator franchise again.

Oh I don't think I'd want Cameron anymore. I let his Genisys praise slide but it's harder to do that now when he's an actual co-writer and knowing what we know about this film.

So almost 30 years ago Cameron made T2 and decided to leave it at that because there was no more story to tell. Now he comes back and apparently a complete rehash is the T3 we needed all along? That being the case, what was wrong with Rise of the Machines then? (it was crap, but just saying :lol ) SMH.
