Re: John Hughes dead at 59

He was one of the best writers/directors working in the 80s. I can watch Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day Off countless times.

R.I.P. Hughes. You WERE the 80's! I absolutely loved everything this man did. This is a very sad day indeed. My favorite J.H.'s movie is hands down Planes Trains and Automobiles. I can't think of any other one thing that could sum up the 80's than John Hughes.

He pretty much ruled the 80s with his awesome films. Teen films haven't been as good since his day. He will be missed. Here's to you Mr. Hughes

I had totally forgot he did Planes Trains and Automobiles. I LOVE that movie.

Damn, that sucks... JH made the BEST 80's non horror/non sci fi films. Nobody could touch him. I'm glad he at least stepped down these past few years to spend time with his family, at least he was able to make the best of his short time on this Earth. RIP :monkey2

Very true, he really seemed to have his finger on the pulse of 80's pulp culture. Sad to hear he has passed, but his movies will definitely live on :duff

another Legend gone. An absolute icon of the 80's, no one can deny that. RIP John, you will be missed, and thank you for the memories.

I was actually shocked to hear that he was only 59. Didn't know he was SO young when he did all those films in the 80s.

RIP John Hughes

Thank you for
Uncle Buck
Ferris Bueller's day off
Planes,Trains and Automobiles
And Home Alone
All four films are classics and still make me laugh no matter how many times I have seen them.

WOW. This is a shock. I loved his movies both the once he wrote and the ones he directed. I didn't know he wrote a few under the nom de plume "Edmond Dantès".
