I'll even take the 90s EXTREME phase over this ****. In my day, guys were into Ghost Rider and Spawn, and gals liked all the bad-ass **** in those flicks too. Ninjas, soldiers, demons, evil scientists and warlords, those things were big with everyone. Now it's all about "muh inner feelings", but not in a "pick myself up and improve" way, no. Murdock and Stark battling depression and alcoholism respectively, and getting back up, was character development. Now virtually everyone being a ***** and a pushover, is not.

I remember reading Kick-Ass and being into it when I was a teenager, but the more I’ve thought about it, the more Millar strikes me as, basically, being a hacky Garth Ennis. Red Son and his Superman adventures stuff was good, but, for the most part, Millar is like that dude that tries super hard to be cool and utterly fails. Ennis goes OTT a lot, but he still shows time and again that he’s capable of writing good stories and that he’s not beholden to those exaggerated stylistic choices people tend to expect from him. I just finished reading The Punisher: The Platoon and there’s a part of me that wonders if this is the same dude who wrote The Boys, but it’s just so ****ing good.
Is funny because this movie is getting trashed for being fatphobic and sexist by a lot of feminist writers.
