Re: IPhone OS 4.0

So the new license agreement for the iPhone OS 4 SDK prohibits the use of outside frameworks, runtimes or plugins in iPhone apps. So much for throwing together quick runtime programs with Flash CS5. :banghead:banghead:banghead

F-U APPLE!

Umm - you should have known this. Apple and Adobe do not mix!

What you should start doing in this case is get onboard for HTML5.

OS 4.0 is designed to use the HTML5 protocol for audio/video that Flash does.

HTML5 will practically do away with proprietary audio/video plugins such as Flash and silverlight.

So there is still hope for your Tonner Edward Cullen Flash runtime app. :naughty

Adobe and Apple have gotten along very well for 2 decades now! What the hell Apple? :monkey2

I've been on board with HTML5 for a long time. My issue is with runtimes, not web content. Monday Adobe is going to announce Creative Suite 5 which was going to give Flash CS5 the ability to produce full iPhone apps easilly and quickly.

But I'm pretty well versed in HTML5 and Objective C, so it's really not too much of a problem, I just liked the idea of putting together quick and dirty proof and concepts and the occasional quickie "need right now" app in Flash. :monkey2

And my Tonner Edward Cullen app will be using a different version of "flash" altogether, if you know what I mean... :naughty :rotfl

You forget that Adobe took over Flash when they acquired Macromedia. When Adobe took over Flash, they did not re-engineer it to work with Apple as they should have. I still don't understand why as Adobe and Apple always worked fine previously. As long as Flash still compiles its files the way Macromedia designed it to, the glitches will be there.

And HTML5 will allow for you to have you Quickie Edward Cullen stuff :naughty

Re: IPhone OS 4.0

____ing Jobs. There is no reason that the new OS shouldn't work completely on the 3G. Hell if you jailbreak it you can get everything that the 3GS does to function perfectly. What he is doing is drawing a line in the sand, you want the new cool ____ to work on your phone? Buy a new one. In about two updates the 3G will be completely obsolete. Not to mention that after the iPhone HD is announced in June/July I'm sure they'll be a 2.0 out by the following summer. There is already evidence of the iPad 2.0 software codes and tidbits leaking on the web already. I was planning on upgrading anyway since I skipped out on the 3GS but its still a little shadier than I would have expected.

I don't know about that. The 3GS does have a much faster processor than the 3G. I don't know how the new OS functions, but I'm guessing it is relying on that extra speed.

However, there is no reason to completely exclude the first gen iPhone, imo. The first gen iPhone is exactly the same as a 3G, minus the 3G modem and GPS. If the 3G can run it, so should the first-gen.

F-U Apple.

Re: IPhone OS 4.0

I'm not worried. I'll kick along with my 3G until I can upgrade in September. I'm a bit too old to get worried that some folks have the "cooler" phone or whatever. This ain't High School anymore. :lol

So this means you will be first inline to get the new iPhone? :D

:rotfl I'm weak, what can I say? I'm kind of hoping the new phone is on Verizon. I'm currently on a first gen jailbroken iPhone on T-Mobile. It gets the job done, but it can be a pain some times waiting for the EDGE network.

Re: IPhone OS 4.0

Yeah, I hate it when my 3g switched to edge for whatever
reason. I can get the next gen when it comes out right away just with no discount or I can wait for September and get
a discount.
