If you follow any gaming channels on YouTube, you've no doubt heard about this already. Google has decided to start a new initiative to go after copyrighted material on youtube. The whole thing is bizarre and creepy to me. It's not just gameplay videos, but reviews as well. Apparently, the publishers aren't even behind it and have mostly come out in support of the gaming channels. From what I can understand, the video isn't removed, but rather demonetized from the creator and any revenue from the ads on the video are given to the copyright striker. In many cases, it's a piece of music that's used in the background or something along those lines. Here's an Angry Joe rant about the situation.

IMO, he's one of the best gaming channels on youtube. He puts a ton of work into his reviews and has a real passion for what he does.
What's everyone's thoughts on this? It's understood that the original content belongs to the publisher, but they've been willing to look the other way because they understood that the benefits have always outweighed the cons.
