Why is that? His seven films have grossed a grand total higher than that of all eleven of jason's films. The audience is there, no doubt. I read an interesting article the other day, stating that Freddy was the only boogeyman that really appealed to female audiences. Not sure how valid that is, but it does make some sense.

Exactly. Now look at the total films. Jason has a handful more films than Freddy to reach that sum. If you average it, the Freddy films have each made much more than each Jason film.

And Freddy wasn't made because of Jason. I'm sure it helped people pitch in money, but I don't recall Craven ever crediting Jason as an infulence or inspiration. Freddy was all of his own design.

And even if that were so, that's like saying Batman was only created because of Superman.

I thought the whole "white trash" origin was typical of RZ and quite ridiculous in H1 and it made me welcome the copying of the original in the 2nd half. Mainly, I was referring to H2 where we see Michael completely recovered from a gunshot that blew half his face off (like no scar recovered) and his incessant need to lumber around slowly, miraculously catching up with his victims (lacking the "lost in the woods" aspect Jason at least had) and stab his victims 200 times violently to ensure their deaths.

I voted Myers. I always have a soft spot for Jason and Freddy as they're such classics and have that awesome, 80's slasher flick look about them. But for me Myers was the man. Jasons mask looked cool, but Myers' mask was creepy. Just the white, expressionless face and that breathing. Very creepy.

I like the look and aura of Jason more, but I like TCM as a movie far more than any F13.

I think the most effective single performance of all the characters listed here was Myers in Halloween. My favorite film of all those involving these characters is Nightmare on Elm Street I. And I do love me some Pinhead and Texas Chainsaw (particularly the 2nd one).

Having said all that, Jason wins. His movies weren't that great, but he is still the most iconic, and flat out coolest-looking horror guy around. His Sideshow figures are, to this day, some of my very favorites.
