Just finished The Strain and it was Great! Im reading Heart shaped box now and its good. Not as good as the strain but entertaining.

Ugh, you are so lucky Chaserfan, that doesn't come out here until January. I can't wait to read it, I thought the first two were really good.

I'm currently reading John Sandford's Dark of the Moon. I love his Prey series, and this is the first book in the Virgil Flower's series. So far I'm really enjoying it Flowers is almost as great a character as Lucas Davenport.

I know; so glad he's Australian! Btw, it's really really really really really good! :monkey3

Sorry, don't mean to gloat or anything.......:D

Great thread!!!!

But I actually don't read much  I'm really curious to start picking stuff up, because I'm intrigued :) But I don't even know where to start!

I've never been into science fiction though..... Anyone have a good suggestions? :D

If you want a good police/crime book I would recommend John Sandford's Prey series. The first is Rules of Prey. They don't have to be read in order, although I think a couple might be sequels, but I can't remember exactly which ones, and they do sometimes mention something that occured in previous books.

For the classic closed room mystery Agatha Christie. She's a mystery genius and any book of hers is great. A few of my favorites are: The ABC Murders, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Murder on the Orient Express, and Crooked House. And Then There Were None is another of hers that is immensly popular.

A great military/lawyer series is by Brian Haig, the main character is very sarcastic, as is the author's writing style. His books are some of the few books that I actually laugh out loud during reading.

For Spy books I would recommend Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon series. The first is The Kill Artist, or something like that.

And pretty much everything by Michael Crichton is good. State of Fear and Next are his weakest imo.

There are a few other series and author's I absolutely love such as Jeffrey Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme series, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's Pendergast books. Or Lincoln Child's solo novel Utopia is awesome, its about a super technological amusement park being taken over by terrorists.

Those are about all I can think of off the top of my head, but I have a feeling that's way more than you were looking for.

Just re read World War Z, am now re reading the Zombie Survival Guide.

I just finished this about a week ago... what an awesome book! Really was impressed with how much breadth of story telling the author was able capture. After I finished I gave it to my wife and she loved it too :rock

Currently I'm restarting the Dark Tower series... I read up to book four when I was younger (before 5-7 were released) so now I need to re-read the first 4 and then finish the series.

So far I'm really enjoying the Gunslinger... its probably been at least 10 or 12 years since I read it; so now its almost new to me.

Finished up the Gunslinger; forgot how cool that book was. Should be getting book 2 and 3 in the mail today :rock

World War Z is AWESOME!!! One of my all time favorites. My wife sent me 2 books while i'm out on business. DAy by Day Armageddon by JL Bourne is a must read for Zombie fans. It's written in a journal form and gets really intense about a third of the way in.
