Weta Originals:The Rayguns

Just got back from the California Steampunk Convention, where I had a pretty lengthy conversation with Greg Broadmore, the WETA designer behind Dr. Grordbort's Rayguns, as well as getting to handle all the weapons (including the "Unnatural Selector" prototype, which I'm intensely jealous of your purchase, Idioteque).

Thoroughly fascinating gentleman, and these are some amazing pieces of art. Autumn and I look forward to adding some of these to our home whenever we can swallow the price tags... they are thoroughly worth it.

The con, by the way, was fabulous. Did not get as many pictures as I would like, but the ones I did are very entertaining.

I don't know why I didn't think to get a snapshot of me holding the Selector. I guess I was just Awestruck by its Beauty.

Wonderful, beautifully crafted ray guns; got a chance to see them up close. They'd make an art collector proud: But, wow, super expensive. Hard to imagine purchasing one at such steep prices.

And what's expensive ? I prefer one Raygun over let's say 5 Hot Toys action figures ...

Very cool! I have the other two miniatures from Comic Con and the book. Just pre-ordered the new one!

Missed out on the 1st 2 mini ray guns, but I just pre-ordered the the mini F.M.O.M!! Got the book a few weeks ago, it is insanely cool-- gotta try to get it signed at SDCC09.

You're welcome. After missing the other minis I decided to sign up for the Grordbort mailing list. Today I got an email that mentioned the new ray-gun and the satchel. The satchel seems a little bit steep in price for me, but that FMOM keychain for early orders might be pretty sweet.

Although after I looked at it for a bit I too think its a steep price. Esp if you compare it to SS's SPook kit ... I'll have to pass on it ...
