interrogation, and punching isn't all there is detective work.

forensics.

criminology.

etc.

JJ Abrams used to bring love when his name was mentioned. But now that's popular, he sucks.

I hope there isn't a Half Life movie, because if it gets popular it will become "stupid". And screw that. Half-Life rules.

The only director I'd trust is Blomkamp. D9 is a love letter to Half-Life.

Nolan can't shoot an action scene to save his life, disjointed as hell. The guys almost certainly never pulled his head out of his *** long enough to touch a video game. He didn't want to put Catwoman in Batman, you think he's going to do justice to DOG, the Vortiguant, or something fun like Gordon riding an airboat and using a crowbar? I swear I think some parrots only know Speilberg, Nolan and other names they hear on the news.

Neil would do Half Life justice.

Hell, he would've done Halo justice. He's a great story teller, with an interesting visual style.

I don't like Warcraft at all, but i'm curious what Duncan Jones is going to do with the property.

I know that a lot of people started with Half Life 2, including me, and I still haven't played the first. I guess they'll probably try to stick the two together somehow for a movie? I think I'm more curious as to who will write it than who will direct it. Very interested in a Portal movie, as long as they keep the humor of the games.

But I have a feeling these will get canceled, I don't believe most of Hollywood will back big budget video game adaptations, even if JJ is attached. Producers will probably use the performance of the recent RE movies as an excuse to pass on both of these. :slap

Nope, Half-Life and Black Mesa needs it's own movie, alot of us started with it and theres plenty of story to tell. Gordon's story would make no sense without the first movie.

:exactly: So many directors are popular for a year, then they are "lame" when a new guy comes along. Happened with Peter Jackson, Nolan, and Abrams like you said. I guess Blomkamp will stay popular as long as he doesn't have any giant, high-grossing blockbusters. :lol

I see, well then they better not leave it out. Should be interesting to see if JJ can convince them to leave it in, since all most people talk about is HL2. But I guess if it's essential as you say, they might not have a choice.

The problem isn't that they "get popular" it's if they sell out. Sometimes when the director's audience grows he abandons what got him famous and that section of his fanbase who supported him for a wider family audience and lame studio movie so he can make more money. Kubrick, Scorsese, Tarantino, PTA, all still get plenty of respect.

I guess I was never a big PC gamer, so I misunderstood just how influential the first one was, so I appreciate you filling me in. And I never saw those videos! I like it when they make live-action shorts, it's nice to see real fans giving it their best effort. :)

EDIT: Never saw that Black Mesa Source video either lol. I'm definitely no expert on this stuff and I miss a lot, so this is cool to see. :D

Gordon is the one who causes the resonance cascade that leads to xen, xen is where the headcrabs, ant lions, vortigaunt etc live. The machine was sabotaged by the G-Man. This causes a portal storm all over the black mesa facility that lets the aliens through into our world and run amuck. The marines are sent in to kill the aliens and all the science personal to quiet it. It goes wrong like in Aliens. So they send in the Navy Seals to nuke the facility. The G-Man also tasks one of the better surviving marines, Cpl. Shepard with hunting down Gordon and murdering him before he can get out, he's testing Gordon to make sure he's good enough. Gordon escapes by getting through Kleiner's portal to Xen, after which hes captured by the G-Man and imprisoned until HL2 so it's absolutely necassary story.

and while those vids are ok, these are the best ones if you havent seen them.

Thanks!:clap I haven't seen any of those actually, so that's cool of you to link them here! And I only had a basic idea of the HL1 story, your summary makes it sound like it would fit right into a movie, so there's no reason they should leave any of that out. I really should get around to actually playing it myself sometime, I felt a bit lost in HL2 at times.
